Contract extensions Telstar's Inia & Stuy

Stormvogels-Telstar's captain Silvan Inia and defender Justin Stuy have signed new contract extensions with the club.
In spite of Telstar's financial problems the club have given heed to trainer Jan Poortvliet's request to hold onto the two key players. Portvliet believes that the 33-year-old Inia's  experience in helping the young members of the squad is of utmost importance
. Stuy, has been rewarded with a new deal for his solid start to the season.
Telstar trial for Guillermo Graaven

Former Ajax and Ipswich Town striker Guillermo Graaven has has been offered the chance to play for Eerste Divisie side Telstar until the end of the season.  The 21 year old striker was found to be too light-weight for the English Premier league club and after trials in Scotland and Germany the 21 year old player signed for Top Oss in August, he is currently unemployed and will welcome the chance to put his boots back on again. Telstar were given the tip to give the youngster a new chance by the player's agent, former Ajax legend Sjaak Swart

 

Den Haag sign Telstar goalkeeper De Vries

Promotion favorites Den Haag have signed Telstar goalkeeper  Dorus de Vries. The 22 year old ex-youth international has penned a three year deal.  "I'm very satisfied" said De Vries, adding "After talking with the club I feel very positive about Den Haag and the whole organization. The club is very ambitious, in a good position for promotion and planning to build a new stadium. I believe I can learn a lot at Den Haag and regard the move as a further step in my career." De Vries will have to compete with 35 year old Roland Jansen, who has just signed a one year contract extension, for a first team place.

Telstar's Marchanno Schultz off to Cyprus

Telstar's midfielder Marchanno Shultz is hoping to become the 5th Dutch player to find employment in the Cypriot first division and  has flown off to Cyprus to undergo trials with NEA Salamina. Salamina are planning to offer the 30 year old a deal to until the end of this season with an option for one more year. Schultz has previously played for Feyenoord. Sturm Graz (Austria) , De Graafschap, NEC and Telstar.

After Niki Leferinkd for the home-side with a clever back-heel in the 35th minute, Telstar drew level via their very own homegrown talent, Anthony Correia, (are the Ere Divisie clubs blind ?).  In the 51st minute of the game Niki Leferink was once again on target, neatly rounding off an Eagles' counter.
Veendam beat Telstar 2-1

Stormvogels Telstar had a stormy night this evening losing 2-1 to Veendam and ending the match with 9 men . Although Telstar took the lead in the 24th via a Sjaak Lettinga goal they were no match for Veendam tonight and were justifiably beaten by goals from Paul Weerman 64th and Armand Mac Andrew 79.

Telstar beat AZ
Stormvogels/Telstar also surprisingly beat Co Adriaanse's AZ 1-0 with a winning goal by Silvan Inia, who played 6 seasons in the Alkmaarders' lineup. AZ's top scorer Barry van Galen may well have regretted not taking part.  AZ played out the match with 10 men after goalkeeper Oscar Moens was sent for an early shower.

AZ's top scorer Barry van Galen will not take part in tonight's Cup clash against Telstar after requesting to be left out of the squad.  2 seasons ago, rival supporters ended a Cup match between the 2 clubs, when Barry van Galen was involved in an incident in which Telstar player Sticker became seriously injured and, as a consequence, was forced to end his career.
South Korean trains with Telstar

South Korean international Do-Kuyn Kim has arrived at Eerste Divisie side Stormvogels/Telstar to continue his recuperation from an injury which prevented him from taking part in the summer's World Cup. The 25 year-old will need another 4 or 5 weeks before playing and Telstar are naturally hoping that he might turn out for them at least once before moving on. The Hyundai Ulsan player, who is a good friend of Feyenoord's Song, will be able to count on as much help as Telstar's medical staff can provide to get him back to match-fitness a.s.a.p. 
Emmen beat Telstar 2-0

Emmen made ammends this evening for last week's 7-1 defeat against Den Haag by beating Telstar 2-0 and reducing the gap with Eerste Divisie  leaders Heracles to 1 point. After Emmen had taken the lead via Junqueira in the 20th minute, Telstar should have at least drawn level as Emmen were reduced to 10 men (Rutger Feijer red-card) and they were awarded a penalty. However, Pascal Averdijk's spot shot sailed wide of goal and Telstar were seldom seen on Emmens half again.
In the 60th minute Bas Sibum put the final score on the board.

Ervin Lee keeps fit with Telstar

Ervin Lee will be keeping fit by training with Stormvogels/Telstar but will not be offered a deal with the club who have more than enough players for his position. The 29 year-old former Fortuna right-back was relegated to the reserve squad at AZ prior to the start of this season and the remainder of his contract was bought off last week.

After 4 consecutive wins Cambuur were starting to look like serious contenders for the Eerste Divisie crown but tonight they dropped 3 valuable points, losing 3-2 to Telstar. Although Cambuurd the score via Ferrier in the 9th minute of the match, they went into the break trailing 2-1 after goals by  Levant (21st) and top-scorer Melvin Holwijn (32nd). 4 minutes into the second half Cambuur drew level via Katapina. In the 85th minute of the game Melvin Holwijn made it 3-2 for Telstar with his second goal of the evening, taking his season's tally to 7.
Heracles beat Telstar 2 - 1

Melvin Holwijnd the score for the visitors in the 9th minute of the match with his 5th goal of the season. Rick Platvoet levelled for Heracles 2 minutes into the second half after the home side were awarded a penalty for an attack on Thijs Sluiter. With just 1 minute of play left to go, the home side were awarded another penalty which Rick Platvoet coolly put away for his 7th goal of the season.

Telstar lose to Sparta 1-4

Sparta go into 8th place pushing Telstar into 9th after this 1-4 win. The visitors took a comfortable lead after the break with goals by Denni Conteh, Carlos Fortes and Danny Koevermans. Sijmen Tol scored Telstar's only goal in the 65th before Koevermans added his 2nd of the evening in the 89th for the 1-4.

Roy Stroeve put them ahead in the 38th, Sandro Calabro doubled the score in the 78th and added a 3rd 10 minutes later to put the result beyond doubt.

Stormvogels/Telstar failed to profit from the points dropped by Emmen at Haarlem and lost themselves in Limburg to  Fortuna Sittard. Joos van Berneveldd the score after almost an hour's play and Ronald Hamming made it 2-0 in the last minute of the match.

Telstar's top scorer Melvin Holwijn was on target again last night. Holwijn scored the one and only goal in Telstar's 1 - 0 win against MVV, taking the club from Velsen into 2nd place in the table behind Emmen.

Stormvogels/Telstar have hired Sunderland's Dutch defender Baki Mercimek on a loan deal for the rest of the season. The defender came up through Ajax's youth academy and was dubbed the 'new Jaap Stam' here in Holland but, after being brought to Wearside in 2001 when his contract with Haarlem expired, has failed to live up to expectations with Peter Reid's team.

Telstar won their 2nd game of the season last night, beating Dordrecht 2-0. Melvin Holwijnd the score for Telstar in the 27th minute. Dordrecht were reduced to 10 men after Jermaine Sandvliet received his 2nd yellow card. A few minutes later Melvin Holwijn made it 2-0 with his second gaol of the evening.

Pascal Averdijk got off to a fine start at his new club with two goals in the 42nd and 51st minutes to give them the points in tonight's match. VVV's Marc Eberlé was sent off in the 58th minute when he received his 2nd yellow card.
Telstar hire Benoît Croissant

Stormvogels/Telstar have hired Sheffield United's French defender Benoît Croissant for a year. Croissant has not seen any action at all with 'The Blades' last season and the 21 year-old hopes to get in some match action with Telstar which Sheffield in their turn hope to profit from. Manager Neil Warnock explained that it's better for Benoît to play some matches and they also have an option in the deal allowing them to recall him to England in 3 months time if they need him!

Stormvogels/Telstar have added a goal-scoring duo for the coming season in Sergio Lommel and Pascal Averdijk. Both are 24 years-old, Averdijk comes on a loan deal from Fortuna Sittard while Ommel arrives from English side Bristol Rovers, where he's been sidetracked since a change in trainers, after ca short spell with Icelandic side SC Reykjavik. The addition of the two strikers was necessary after top-scorer Laurens ten Heuvel signed for Sheffield United and coincidentally the two players both started their professional careers with Groningen verkocht. Averdijk will beable to sign up for the 2003/2004 seaso at the end of his loan-spell while Ommel is a familiar face in Velsen, having played there between 1999 and 2001. 
Schultz signs for Stormvogels/Telstar

Marchanno Schultz has signed a one-year contract with Stormvogels/Telstar. The 29 year-old midfielder had been on hire to the Eerste Divisie side from NEC since a dispute led to his departure from the Nijmegen side last December. He's had a clause inserted in his current contract which allows him to leave Velsen for a limited transfer-fee if the need arises. Despite this most recent signing Stormvogels/Telstar are still looking to complete their squad with a central-defender and a forward. Main candidate for the defensive role is Sheffield United's Frenchman Benoît Croissant who's currently on trial. The Blades player will be tested in a friendly against Groningen tonight. As far as the attacking role is concerned the club are lining up former Den Haag player Emiel van Eijkeren who's chosen not to accept an offer to play for Welsh side Swansea City

Stormvogels/Telstar have invited French player Benoît Croissant for a trial. The 21 year-old is under contract to English First Division side Sheffield United but saw no action at all last season in Yorkshire with the the team where former Telstar striker Laurens ten Heuvel recently signed deal.

Stormvogels/Telstar's top scorer Laurens ten Heuvel has signed a contract for two years with English First Division side Sheffield United. After a shaky start to last season on arriving in Velsen from Amsterdam's amateurs DCG Ten Heuvel began putting away the goals that eventually attracted the attentions of Roda JC, Willem II and Sheffield United with "The Blades" finally winning the battle for his signature and goal-scoring services. He's made Telstar history by equalling the club record for goals in one season set by Ronald Hoop and now moves across the channel to try his luck in England for the second time after an earlier adventure with Barnsley.

Sheffield United have made an offer for Stormvogels/Telstar striker Laurens ten Heuvel. "The Blades" have offered the player a package including bonusses dependent on the 26 year-old's performance. Ten Heuvel, who's also been targeted by Roda JC, previously played in England between 1996 and 1999 for Barnsley and Northampton Town. Via Austrian side First Vienna FC he arrived in Velsen in the summer of 2001 where he scored 20 goals in the Dutch Eerste Divisie last season.

Stormvogels/Telstar have signed defender Tuan Truong on a contract for one year with an option for another. The 21 year-old was playing for Volendam last season but had lost a regular place in the lineup. He played 14 matches last season for the Volendammers, starting in 8 of them and hopes to see more action for the Ijmuiden side.

Sijmen Tol has signed a deal to play for Stormvogels/Telstar next season. The 22 year-old Volendammer played 23 matches for Haarlem last season but rejected the offer of a contract with the club. He's signed a contract for one year with the Velsen side with an option for another season. Stormvogels/Telstar see him as the perfect replacement for  midfielder Ardon de Waard who's left for VVV.
Roda sign Telstar's Ten Heuvel?

Roda JC have reached agreement with Stormvogels/Telstar concerning the transfer of Laurens ten Heuvel. The Limburgers hope to hire out the 25 year-old forward, who put away 20 Eerste Divisie goals this season, to VVV during the coming season. It only remains for Ten Heuvel to agree terms with VVV for the deal to be completed. The former Den Bosch, Barnsley, Northampton Town and First Vienna player, who was also being targeted by Willem II and Sheffield United, has signed a deal for 5 seasons.
