The club
came into existence in July 1888, 3 months after the Sparta Cricket Club
was founded. Its first game was against Excelsior. In 1890 the club joined
the newly formed Dutch Football and Athletic Association - their
first match in the 2nd Class (Tweede Klasse) Competition (a knockout
trophy) is a defeat. In the same year they merge with another club
'Minerva'. In 1892 they have their first normal season in the 2nd Class
and are the first club in Holland to advertise a match (against Amersfoort
Quick).
