1914 is generally accepted as the founding year of the current Roda JC club as it was the year in which the old Juliana club was started.  Formed in 1962 in Kerkrade as the result of the merger of  Rapid Juliana Combination ( created in the 1950's by the merger of the clubs Juliana and Rapid '54) and Roda Sport ( themselves the offspring of the clubs Kerkrade and SV Bleyerheide ). The Roda success story began when the club, playing under the name Rapid '54 JC, won the League Championship in 1955/56. Between 1975 and 1997 the club were Cup finalists 4 times, delighting their fans by actually winning it in 1997. They sent Heerenveen packing back to Friesland after an exciting final in Rotterdam's The Kuip stadium in which they won 4 - 2. They have suffered demotion and have continued to build on their successes in the league as well as adventures in European football - they've just taken part for the 6th time. They are welcome everywhere with their distinctive and attractive, attacking style of football.  Roda play in yellow and black and their home ground Sportpark Kaalheide has room for 25,000 spectators.
