Preview Newcastle United - NAC

24 Sep 2003

NAC coach Ton Lokhoff is convinced that his side can do well tonight against Sir Bobby Robson's Newcastle United in the first round of the UEFA Cup.
Lokhff, who was present during Newcastle's
goalless draw against Bolton last weekend, believes that NAC, who beat Ajax 4-2 on Sunday, can be a serious threat to Premier League outfit's . Lokhoff: "I saw Newcastle last Saturday against Bolton Wanderers and Sir Bobby Robson was very friendly and received me in his office. He also showed me the stadium. "I saw with my own eyes that Newcastle are a great club and they have great players like (Alan) Shearer and (Craig) Bellamy who can make the difference in every match. But we can always create a lot of chances, so we believe in a good result for NAC Breda. It won't be a walkover for the Magpies.". 35-year-old Former Feyenoorder striker Henk Vos, who was hoping to head tonight's up-front strike force but has consoled himself to the fact that he will be statring on the bench now that Johan Elmander, who is on loan from Feyenoord, looks set to keep his place in attack after scoring twice against Ajax. Vos: Johan Elmander did well against Ajax. I can understand the choice of the manager. He has given his confidence to Johan and all I can do is to work hard in training sessions and there will be always a chance when other players get injured or suspended." However,  Nourdin Boukhari, whod the scoring against Ajax on Sunday is not eligable to play.
