Dutch
international striker Patrick Kluivert
looks set to sign a one-year loan deal with
Newcastle United and reports in England suggest that he
will put pen to paper within the next 24 hours. The prolific Dutch
hitman has confirmed that his agent has been in productive talks
and that a deal is close to being finalised.
Kluivert: ''It is looking more and more likely that I will be playing for Newcastle next season. My agent has already met the people there and it was arranged for me to fly to England for a medical. 'I've had offers from other clubs but it is Newcastle that I want to join.
Barcelona have also agreed to pay a proportion of Kluivert's wages that the player insists have been grossly exaggerated in the media. Kluivert continued: ''There has been a lot of rubbish written about my salary.''
