22 Mar 2004

In an interview in the English daily newspaper 'News of the World'  Arsenal's Dennis Bergkamp has confirmed that he will hang up his boots at the end of the season if he fails to secure a new Gunners extension. The 34-year-old former Holland international inked a one-year extension last season and now wants to ink similar deal again.
Bergkamp: "I want one more year at Arsenal - it's my final ambition.
I will sign for one more year if they want me. I do not wish to play for any other club."
Bergkamp's agent Rob Jansen confirmed his Bergkamp's statement: "If Dennis does not sign a new contract with Arsenal, he will retire,"
