With just a
few hours remaining to the January
transfer periord, Edwin van der Sar's
Fulham have snapped up highly-rated
Liberian born, Dutch youth
international striker Collins John from
Twente Enschede.
The Premiership outfit have just seen their highly rated striker Louis Saha join Ruud van Nistelrooy's Manchester United, leaving the London outfit's side with plenty of money to spend and although Fulham have already already brought in United States international Brian McBride, their kitty is still bulging with United bucks.
According to reports in the Dutch media, the 18-year-old talent has inked a four-and-a-half year contract with Fulham after Twente accepted the London outfit's €6 million offer.
Technical director Johan Plageman told the club's website: "The financial situation of FC Twente means this is a good matter for the club. But, on a sporting level, we regret the departure of Collins. We all wish him great success in the United Kingdom. Concerning the transfer fee, we are making no statements but the amount which has been mentioned in certain media is absolute nonsense. The amount is considerably lower."
John has been one of the revelations of the Eredivisie season and has netted nine goals in 18 appearances for Twente.
