Baan & Van Marwijk to leave Feyenoord

30 Dec 2003

Feyenoord have announced that technical director Rob Baan will be leaving the club.  Baan's departure comes as somewhat of a surprise but is nonetheless unavoidable after having displayed shortsightedness in his transfers.
Baan advised Feyenoord to acquire a number of players  including
Jean Carlos Dondé and  Meshal Mubarak who just aren't up to Feynoord's standards whilst potential top-players like Tim Howard, and Ricardo Oliveira were regarded as to weak by Baan.
Feyenoord chairman Jorien van den Herik explained: "Feyenoord and Baan have decided to go their seperate ways. We are currently negotiating a settlement.  The reason is that Feyenoord and Baan are in disagreement regarding our future technical policy."
Although the club are still satisfied with coach Bert van Marwijk, both parties have announced that they will be going their seperate ways after this season.  And, despite Van den Herik's critical remarks in the Feyenoord magazine recently, the club's chairman is very satisfied with Van Marwijk whom he believes has managed to keep the peace within the squad.
However, Van Marwijk stated "I need a new challenge"
