Patrick Zwaanswijk has confirmed that he is
expecting to join the mass exodus from Utrecht, saying that he felt he needed a
new challenge. In an interview in the Dutch daily newspaper 'De Telegraaf'
the 28-year-old defender, who has been linked with top clubs Newcastle United,
Liverpool and Bayern Munich, said: "I need a new challenge. If
I leave Utrecht after the current season, the club can still get a fee. But
if I have to play out my contract I will do that and give 100 percent and
do it for the coaches, players and fans." Zwaanswijk's
agent has also confirmed the foreign interest for his pupil and believes that a
deal is imminent.
