Ajax find themselves with an ever
increasing amount of players who are dissatisfied with their current
contract and are forcing better deals. After Rafael van der Vaart and
Hatem Trabelsi have rejected deals offered to them recently now South
African talent Pienaar is demanding new terms. Pienaar was promised a
new deal if e were to manage a certain number of appearances which he
indeed passed November. Ajax approached the player with a new deal but
Pienaar is not satisfied with the new offer and his agent has said that
the contract is not worthy of his ability. "Steven hit the
appearance number in November, but we were told to wait until January.
They did come back, but offered a pittance, way below his market value.
"Ajax take on young kids on low wages, with the promise of a better
deal if they prove themselves, but it never arrives. He would like to
stay, but the club need to be fair. It is a great club to develop at,
but it`s not a nice situation when most of the team are unhappy. I am
hoping they come back with a decent offer and give him what he
deserves."
