have called off the transfer of Feyenoord's Polish goalie Jurek Dudek
after there were problems with the keeper's medical report - it
seems the doctor sent to Poland to carry out the examination forgot(?) to
do a blood test and there was also a delay with a scan (professional,
huh!). "The Reds" didn't feel they had the time to put the keeper through
another medical and called of the transfer which led to a legal-steps type
threat by Feyenoord. Fortunately, the Polish squad's doctor had taken
blood from all the players on Wednesday and a sample of that is being
flown to Liverpool in the hope that it will prove to be in order, once it
arrives, so that the deal can go through in time for Dudek to be
registered for Champions League football! If the desperate last-minute
attempt fails it will leave three disappointed keepers! Dudek because his
wish (to play in England hasn't come true again - his
move to Arsenal also fell through) Edwin Zoetebier (because he won't get
to play for Feyenoord) and Sander Westerveld (who was going to be replaced
by Dudek at Liverpool and looked set for a departure) - how will he be
feeling?.
