Roda had an easy home win against
an Israeli side who were very weak in defence. Two first half goals from
Tom Soetaers (4th and 35th minutes) gave the home team a comfortable lead
going into the dressing room. After the break they restarted rather
nervously but settled down again and Frederik Berglund put away the 3rd goal in the
54th. The visitors got a goal back through substitute Ferenc Horváth in the 78th
but Fatih Sonkaya put away the 4th for Roda 4 minutes later. Maccabi's star player
Nimni, who'd been blocked out of the game by Humphrey Rudge, had a
penalty saved by Zeljko Kalac as the match drew to a hectic end.
