PSV Win Uninspiring Duel

14 August

PSV won the Johan Cruijff Cup in the Amsterdam Arena yesterday  beating Roda JC in a match which didn't ignite. The stadium, filled to only a third of its capacity,  didn't have enough spectators or breathable oxygen to help inspire the action on the pitch. PSV have already won the trophy in 1996, 1997 and 1998,  so last night's victory won't have been exactly sweet. Even Johan Cruijff himself couldn't make it! However, it was probably most notable for the performance of PSV's new signing Mateja Kezman - he at least seemed to be motivated to give his all.
