Eric Gerets leaves PSV!

In a shock announcement PSV have announced they are parting company with coach Eric Gerets! The Belgian trainer signed a (so-called for life!?!) new contract only last season but disappointing results last season in the domestic league/cup as well as in Europe, have obviously precipitated his premature departure. There had been rumours and rumblings for some time in Eindhoven and it was becoming increasingly clear that Gerets' position at the club was in jeopardy. Nevertheless, the news is still very much a summer surprise and a personal blow for Gerets! He's taken the team to two Ere Divisie titles in his 3 years with the club but the failure to go further and do well in Europe have led to chairman Harry van Raaij's decision.
