Van Nistelrooy in United Hall of Fame

08 Jan 2002

Ruud van Nistelrooy has only been with the "Red Devils" a few months but he's already become part of the club's mythology and enters the Mancunians' "Hall of Fame"! The two goals he put away for Manchester United against Aston Villa in their FA Cup 3rd Round match created the new record - the Dutch international has scored in every one of his last 7 matches which is a new club record. Such illustrious names as Joe Spence, Liam Whelan, Bobby Charlton, David Herd and Dwight Yorke only got as far as scoring in 6 consecutive matches. If he scores again on Sunday in the Premiership it'll be again a new record as he will have scored in 7 consecutive league matches, equalling Mark Stein's record for Chelsea in 1993/1994!
