Ajax fought hard this afternoon, beating
Twente on the their home ground 1-2 and keep up the pressure on leaders PSV
who had an easy 2-0 home win over Utrecht. After a 0-0 half-time score-line
Chivu brokethe deadlock with a 64th minute spot-shot after Andy v.d.
Meyde was brought down in the box. Eight minutes from time Rafael van der
Vaart netted a second for his 18th goal of the season. Collin
John scored in extra time for the home-side.

Eindhoven must wait until Thursday before they can uncork the champagne
after beating Utrecht 2-0 at home but seeing Ajax still breathing down their
necks after a hard earned 1-2 away win at Twente. Arnold
Bruggink gave PSV an early 3rd minute lead and Mateja Kezman spot-shotted
after half an hour to give PSV a comfortable 2-0 margin. |

| Feyenoord
hopes of Champions League football next year were destroyed this afternoon
after being held to a 1-1 draw against Willem II in Tilburg
while both the Ajax and PSV both won their matches. Injury-hit
Willem II.Willem managed tothe score after just seven minutes when
Northern Ireland striker James Quinn netted. With just 18 minutes left, out
of favour striker Bonaventure Kalou added some excitement when bagging the
equalizer, however, unlike Feyenoord's past few matches, Bert van Marwijk's
side were unable to produce a late winning goal. |

NAC's convincing 4-0 win over AZ see
them go into 5th place keeps them on track for European football next season
and if the Nijmegenaren win this Thursday's away match against strugglers
RBC then they will secure a UEFA ticket. Rob
Penders put NAC into the lead in the 31st minute of the first half and just
5 minutes later Alfred Schreuder added a second. 7 minutes into the second
act Orlando Engelaar made it 3-0 with a penalty. Marcel Koning added an
injury time fourth goal.

An unfortunate 20th minute own goal from
RKC striker Yuri Cornelisse, ends RKC's hopes of UEFA cup football next
season but enhances Roda's, as the Kerkraders climb to fourth spot. However
NAC NEC and Heerenveen can still catch them up and Roda still need at
least a draw against Feyenoord on Thursday to sure.

Heerenveen smashed RBC 6-0 today to keep
their UEFA Cup dream alive but need a win from Ajax this Thursday in
Amsterdam to succeed. Mika Nurmela netted an early first minuter
for the home-side, and Gerald Sibon (12th) Romano Denneboom (18th) and
John de Jong (25th) complemented the 4-0 half-time score.
4 minutes into the second act De Jong, on hire from PSV, grabbed his
second of the evening. Six minutes later Daniel Jensen put the final 6-0
score-line on the board.

draw 4-4 with Vitesse |

Excelsior and Vitesse battled out a
bottom of the table eight goal thriller this afternoon as both teams secured
a point in the quest for Eredivisie survival. Said Boutahar put Excelsior into
the lead in the fourth minute of the game Vitesse striker Matthew Amoah
equalised for the visitors 10 minutes later. In
the 38th minute Brian Pinas put the Rotterdammer's once again ahead
but qith just one minute remaining of the first half Amoah netted his second
of the afternoon for the 2-2half-time score. After Steve Olfers made
it 3-2 for Excelsior in the 58th-minute, Gert Claessens once again equalised
for the visitors with a 73rd minute goal. 5 minutes later Vitesse
found themselves leading 3-4 when Amoah completed his hat-trick. However,
with five minutes remaining, Moroccan striker Mounir El Hamdaoui
leveled.

Relegation threatened Zwolle held Johan
Neeskens high flying NEC to a surprise 0-0 draw denting
the Nijmegen's European hopes and earning themselves unexpected survival
point. The result means NEC
drop to sixth place and they will now have to win their last match on
Thursday, away to RKC.
