Born in 1964. World famous Dutch striker - arrived at AFC Ajax in 1981 after playing for EDO, UVV and Elinkwijk. At Ajax he developed into a technically gifted and dangerous forward. In 1986 he was Europe's top scorer (37 goals). During his time at Ajax in 1987 they won the European Cup 2 (the old European Cup Winners Cup). He then transferred to AC Milan where he took part in that club's successes, helping them to win the European Cup 1, the Super Cup and the World Championship for clubs in 1989 and 1990. When Holland won the European Championship in 1988 he was the competition's top scorer (5 goals) and was voted best player of the championship. In 1988, 1989 and 1992 he was voted European Footballer of the year and best player in the world in 1992. He appeared 58 times for Holland . His career was ended prematurely by a chronic ankle injury.

Born in 1969 Bergkamp is a product of the Ajax youth training 
scheme. In 1993 he was transferred to Inter Milan for 11 million 
euros in a deal including Wim Jonk (himself going for 4 million euros.
At the time this made him the most expensive player in Holland.
Although he helped Inter to win the European Cup3 (EUFA Cup)in 1994
his time at the club was not a happy one. In 1995 he transferred
to Arsenal for 9 million euros. His English footballing colleagues
voted him Player of the Year in 1998 and the footballing press voted 
him best player in 1997 and 1998. At the World Championships held 
in France in 1998 he broke Faas Wilkes' old record of most goals 
scored during the competition by a single team member - he scored 36 
times. In 1998 he was admitted to the Dutch Division One's Hall of Fame.
He has appeared 71 times in the right forward position for Holland.

1900-1999 European Player Of The Century

Born 1947. Legendary player who appeared 48 times as a forward for the Dutch national team. He was signed up as a 17 year old by Ajax and in his first appearance (November 15 1964) he scored Ajax's only goal against GVAV (result 3-1). During his time at Ajax the club won the league 6 times, the Europacup 1 (Champions League) 3 times (1971,1972,1973), as well as the World Championship for clubs in 1972. He played for Barcelona between 1973 and 1978 where he helped them to win the Spanish league in 1974. In 1978 he left for the USA where he played for the Los Angeles Aztecs, the Washington Diplomats (1979),and Levante (1981). He returned to Ajax in 1981 and helped them to win the League another two times and then went to Feyenoord for one season ) who (surprise,surprise) then also won the League! He became technical adviser for Ajax and in 1987 they won the Europa Cup 2 (Cup Winner's Cup). That same year he went to Barcelona where he helped them as technical adviser to win the Europa Cup 2 in 1989 and in 1992 the Europa Cup 1. During his "reign" at Barcelona the club were league champions four years running ). He was European Footballer of the Year in 1971, 1973, and 1974. During the World Cup in 1974 he was voted best player of the tournament but missed the World Cup in 1978. Famous for his amazing technique, speed and tactical insight he is generally regarded as one of the all time greats and in 1999 he was voted best player of the century. After leaving Barcelona in 1996 he has worked in television as commentator.

RUUD GULLIT

Born 1962. He played for Meerboys, DWS and made his professional debut as 16 year-old for Haarlem. Between 1982 and 1985 he played for Feyenoord, moved to PSV in 1985 and in 1987 he was transferred to AC Milan for the (then) record fee of Fl.17 million ($8.5 millon dollars). He achieved great success with the Italian club along with fellow teammates Frank Rijkaard (now national coach) and Marco van Basten. In 1987 he was voted European footballer of the year. In 1997 he signed a 2-year contract with Chelsea as player/manager and with them he won the FA Cup in 1997. After his contract was terminated by the club at the beginning of 1998 he moved to Newcastle United but his stay there was short. During his time in England he has appeared often as commentator on the television. While at AC Milan he gained the nickname 'Il tulipano nero' (the Black Tulip). Gullitt was a powerful and gifted player whose flexibility meant he could play in different positions. He made his international debut as 19 year-old and played a total of 66 times for Holland.

WIM JONK

Born 1966. He was transferred from Volendam to Ajax in 1988 where he formed a successful partnership with Dennis Bergkamp. In 1993 he moved to Inter Milan for fl.8 million together with Bergkamp. Although he won the European Cup 3 while playing for Inter in 1994, he and Bergkamp were not really successful in Italy. In 1995 Jonk returned to Holland to play for PSV and in 1998 he moved to Sheffield Wednesday in Engeland. A technically gifted player with a hard shot he has played 49 times as midfielder for Holland.

 

RONALD KOEMAN

Born 1963. He has played for GRC(amateurs), FC Groningen, AFC Ajax, PSV (European Cup 1 in 1988), Barcelona (European Cup 1 in 1992) and Feyenoord (until the end of the 1996/7 season).
He was reknowned for his insight into the game, his missile-like long distance shots and accurate free-kicks. He made his debut for the national team in 1983 and appeared a total of 78 times for Holland as centre forward. At the end of his playing career he played an active part as member of the national training staff during the World Cup in France in 1998. After moving to Barcelona in that capacity he became trainer of FC Vitesse in January 2000. He is also the brother of Erwin Koeman.

FRANK RIJKAARD

Born 1962. Played for SCA, Blauw Wit, DWS, AFC Ajax, Sporting Lisbon (who actually lent him to Real Zaragoza) and AC Milan, finally ending his career with Ajax (1995/6). In the course of an impressive career he won champions' medals with AFC Ajax (5 times) and AC Milan (twice), won the European Cup 1 with AC Milan (twice) and once with Ajax, the European Cup 2 with Ajax, and both the World Cup and Super Cup with AC Milan. He was a stylish player who was "good in the air", making his debut for Holland in 1981 against Switserland and going on to play a total of 73 times for the Dutch team. After ending his playing career he joined the training staff of the national squad, initially as assistant, later on succeeding Guus Hiddink as coach.

AARON WINTER

Born 1967. Played for Ajax before leaving for AS Roma in 1992, going on to play for Inter Milan in 1996, and finally returning to Ajax in 1999. He has played 79 times for Holland in midfield.
