Den Haag's trainer Rinus Israel has
stated that as far as he is concerned
the club must not expect any wonders this coming season.
Israel emphasised that although the club have contracted a number of good
players, their main objective this season is to retain their Eredivisie status.
Israel: "We will do everything in our power to produce
spectacular football. However we must remain realistic. We will have done well
if we finish 15th place and avoid the end of season relegation playoffs. I have
every confidence with the new players that we will achieve that. I also believe
that aside from the new players; last year's league winning team can develop
even more." |

Newly
promoted Den Haag have offered Japanese midfielder Yuji Minami a trial who
is currently under contract with Brazilian side Comercial. The 26-year-old,
who wants to try his luck in Europe, will be given one week the time
to to impress the Dutch club in the hope of gaining a permanent move.
Den Haag have also offered a trial to Feyenoord's former Barcelona
midfielder, Igor Korneev. The Russian player, whose contract with
Feyenoord ran out last term, has also had a brief stint with UEFA Cup
qualifiers, NAC last season. |

Eerstedivisie
winners ADO Den Haag who are in dire need of a new defender, midfielder as
well as a new striker, have reached an agreement with Feyenoord for a
one-year loan deal for their Brazilian midfielder, Leonardo II. (Feyenoord
have two players named Leonardo, hence the II).
Leonardo II, who for some mysterious reason is unable to impress at
Feyenoord, spent last year on loan to De Graafschap, who were relegated
last season. |

Twente midfielder Kurt van de Paar's proposed
move to newly promoted Den Haag has fallen through at the last
minute after the player failed to pass the necessary medical. Van
de Paar was set to join the Den Haag for the beginning of next season but
the move has now been called off. According to reports in the Belgian
media Van de Paar has now signed a three-year contract at Turkish side
Trabzonspor. |

Twente's Belgian midfielder Kurt van de
Paar has reached a verbal agreement with Eredivisie newcomers Den Haag.
The 25-year-old, who is currently a free agent after Twente decided not to
renew his contract, has also attracted the ttention of Turkish side
Trabzonspor but has decided to remain in Holland. Van der Paar
"I have chosen to play for ADO Den Haag, because I like the club's
ambitions and Rinus Israel and Lex Schoenmaker are two appealing
names," (trainer and assistant). Plus,
the fans cheer for the full 90 minutes. I can't wait to prove myself in Den
Haag."

After 11 years in the Eerstedivisie Den
Haag have finally regained promotion back into Holland's highest league after
beating VVV 3-0 and seeing rivals Emmen draw 0-0.
Den Haag went into the break leading 1-0 thanks to a 13th minute Roy Stroeve
goal. Gabor Torma 70th and Santi Kolk 84th put the final 3-0 score-line
on the board. A rather unusual score worth mentioning was Eerstedivisie
Go Ahead Eagles 10-0 home win over Cambuur with six goal hero Ugar Yildirim in
lightning form.

Eerstedivisie side Den Haag who are on the
verge of being promoted have signed Heracles striker Rik Platvoet. The prolific
striker who has already bagged 24 goals this season in the Eerstedivisie had
also attracted the attention of Turkish and Greek clubs and even Italian outfit
Fiorentina were reported to be interested in the goal-getter. However the
27-year-old has opted for a three-year deal with the Dutch governmental city.

Favourites for promotion Den Haag have seen
the Dutch FA (KNVB) switch this Friday's away match against VVV into a home
match after Venlo's local mayor refused permission for the match to take place
for a second time. Dutch FA rules stipulate that if local authorities disallow a
home match to take place twice in succession then the game will be switched into
an away match. VVV's stadium is still under construction and the Mayor fear for
the crowds safety. The switch gives Den Haag the chance to be crowned on their
own home ground.

PSV are intending to lend defender Robert van Boxel
to Eerstedivisie side Den Haag for next season. Deb Haag, who look set to win promotion to the
Eredivisie, have also extended the contracts of first team players Jeffrey van As and Peter
Hofstede. Both players have
agreed to stay on for one more year with the club.

Eredivisie is only a matter of time. have targeted Belgian international Gunther
Schepens and Twente's Belgian midfielder Kurt van der Paar.
Schepens, who now plays for Belgian outfit AA Gent, has scored scored 5 times
this season in 12 first team appearances.
The 30-year-old player has been capped once for Belgium in their 1997 World Cup
qualifying match against Holland.

fears for crowd disorders. The match has been called off due to the

Promotion favorited ADO Den Haag who
are already preparing for next season with the signing of new players will
have start searching for a new striker now that Sandro Calabro has penned
a three-year contract with Utrecht and will join new signings Donny de Groot and the Fin Paulus Roiha.
The 20-year-old. whose contract
runs out this summer, has scored eight goals in 16 games this season. On
Utrecht's website the striker said: "In one word: fantastic!. I see
this as a great opportunity. FC Utrecht are a step higher than ADO Den
Haag. I'm looking forward to playing here."

Ajax midfielder Richard Witschge, who
has been informed that there is no room for him in Ajax's squad next
season, looks set to move to Den Haag, who themselves look set for
promotion. Witchge's imminent transfer to the governmental city can be
contributed to his agent Rob Jansen who is also an advisor to Den Haag's
board. Den Haag have every intention of making their stay in the Ere
Divisie last longer than just one season and have lined up several new
players to strengthen their squad, including Ajax midfielder
Richard Knopper, Heracles striker Rik Platvoet, Utrecht striker Igor
Gluscevic and Twente midfielder Kurt van de Paar. |

Eerste Divisie leaders Den Haag are
already planning ahead for next season in the Ere Divise. The club has set
it's sights on Ere Divisie survival and have approached Ajax's Richard
Witschge for a transfer to the club. Witchge has already been told by
Ajax trainer Ronald Koeman that he does not fit into the club's plans for
next season . In an interview in
the Dutch weekly football magazine 'Voetbal International' Witchge said:
" I'mto all offers of course," But I
have set a limit for myself. I won't go to any old club. If I don't get an
offer I want I will quit professional football and play with an amateur
side." Den Haag have also set their sights on Ajax midfielder Richard
Knopper who is currently on loan in Greece to Aris Saloniki.

without defender Jan Paul Saeijs for the next six weeks after tests revealed
that an surgery is necessary to relieve the damage to his meniscus. The
24-year-old players will be going into hospital this week for the
operation.

Den Haag's city council
will make a decision on April the 24th as to whether they will give
the Eerste Divisie leaders the green light to build their new stadium.
The council are prepared
to contribute 27.5 million euros towards the new stadium which, if given the
go-ahead, should be finished in 2005. The city of Den Haag will own
the 15,000 seated stadium.

Eerste
Divisie leaders Den Haag have hired Roda JC's Hungarian striker Gabor
Torma for the rest of the season. Torma, who previously played for
Hungarian side Dunaferr and Belgium club Cercle Brugge before coming to
Holland, has been plagued by injuries for most of his career. The
striker has also been subjected to several loan deal and has had several
trials.

Den Haag have hired Heerenveen's Santi Kolk for the rest of the season.
Kolk, who started his professional career at Den Haag in 1999 before moving
to Heerenveen in 2001, has never been able to secure a first team place with
the 'Friesians' and was loaned to RKC for the second half of last season.
The Dutch youth international's contract runs out in 2005.

Promotion favorites Den Haag have signed Telstar goalkeeper Dorus
de Vries. The 22 year old ex-youth international has penned a three year
deal. "I'm very satisfied" said De Vries, adding
"After talking with the club I feel very positive about Den Haag and
the whole organization. The club is very ambitious, in a good position for
promotion and planning to build a new stadium. I believe I can learn a lot
at Den Haag and regard the move as a further step in my career." De
Vries will have to compete with 35 year old Roland Jansen, who has just
signed a one year contract extension, for a first team place.

many clubs in Holland (and elsewhere) facing financial difficulties, Den
Haag, who are still on track for promotion, are planning to build a new
stadium . The new accommodation that is to be designed by the Amsterdam
architect Moshé Zwarts will cost € 27.2 million euros and is to be
built and financed by Den Haag's City council. The council have stated
that they every intention of helping to keep Den Haag in the Ere Divisie
and have promised to donate a further € 2 million euros per year towards
buying new players. |

new deal with their 35 year old striker. Roland Jansen. Hansen stated that he
was over the moon that Den Haag have show faith in him and belives that he still
hase something to offer the Ere Divisie next season if Den Haag indeed promoted.
Jansen's, who has previously played for
Willem II and Sparta, also said he that he had confidence in Den Haag's
ambitions saying "I have full confidence in the ambitions of ADO.
Everything tells you that football is alive again in The Hague."

row tonight, this time VVV were on the losing end. After somehow managing to
keep the home side from scoring for the 1st half hour, VVV found themselves
trailing 1-0 after Den Haag's top scorer Roy Stroeve netted his 8th goal of
the season. 2 minutes before the break Arjan van der Laan made it 2-0. In
the second half Den Haag took a 5-0 lead via goals from Hofsted (63),
Castelen (68) and Cales (86). In the 88th minute, VVV's Marcel Meeuwis
finally netted a consolation goal for the visitors.

Ahead Eagles 3-1 while second placed Heracles lost at home to Emmen.

'cup bacon' last night with a golden goal to put them past amateur side De
Treffers in their 1st round Amstel Cup match. Van der Ent put the amateurs
ahead in the 20th minute but two 2nd half goals by Peter Hofstede (63th
and 65th) gave ADO the lead but not for long as 6 minutes before the final
whistle Sargs equalized. Extra-time was short and sweet as only 3 minutes
had been played before Castelen scored the winning goal.

Haag had no problems dealing with Emmen last night, reflected in the 6-1
score. Early in the match Peter Hofstede twice came close tong the score, forcing Emmen to close ranks and making it increasingly
difficult for the home team to find a way through. Close to the
half-hour Romeo Castelen set up Gijs Cales with a not-to-be-missed
chance to find the back of the net and Roy Stroeve doubled the score
before the half-time whistle sounded. Cales put away his 2nd just after
the break and he provided Jean Paul Saeijs with the chance for the 4-0. Arjan van der
Laan added a 5th while Castelen and Stroeve took the score to 7-0 before
Rodney Cairo scored a consolation goal for Emmen. |

against Helmond Sport last night. Ferry Bodde (8th and Roy Stroeve (17th)

should have wrapped up the match in theng half after goals by Peter
Hofstede, 34th from a Ferry Bodde freekick, and 5 minutes later Roy Stroeve
made it 2-0 but Romeo Castelen wasted a golden opportunity to beat Brian van
Loo close to the halftime whistle. Castelen had a 2nd chance soon after the
break and, in a one-two with Stroeve, this time making no mistake for the

for the visitors in the 4th minute with a spot shot. In the 12th minute Van der

(74th) put the final 1-3 score. MVV are now in 17th place.

out a 5-match ban by the Dutch FA's (KNVB) discplinary committee for the red
card he picked up in the match against Fortuna. The veteran was sent off
during the match on September 13th for standing on the toes of referee Peter
van Dongen.

Eerste Divisie title this season. Lex Schoemaker and Rinus Israel's team, tipped
by many trainers as a promotion contender this season, had few problems with
their opponents.

ADO Den Haag have offered Mustapha El Idrissi a
trial. The 24 year-old Moroccan played 13 matches for Groningen last
season but his contract with the Oosterpark side was terminated in October
2001. The flexible forward previously turned out for Lille OSC, Excelsior
Moeskroen and Santa Clara. He made a good impression on his arrival in
Groningen in the summer of 2000 but, after a long spell on the injured
list, lost his place in the 1st eleven and, at the beginning of the
following season, was relegated to the reserve team for disciplinary
reasons.

van Eijkeren is going for a week's trial with Welsh side Swansea City
starting this coming Monday. Due to the fact that the Third Division side
are in Holland for their pre-season preparations Van Eikeren may get the
chance to extend his trial by playing in a friendly. Ironically enough,
while in Holland Swansea will be playing against several teams including
Van Eijkeren's club, ADO Den Haag. The 32 year-old striker was their
top-scorer last season but declined a reduced offer to stay with the club
and has been targeted by Helmond Sport and Stormvogels/Telstar.

Haag have signed Sparta forward Roy Stroeve on a contract for two
seasons. The 25 year-old lost his place in the Rotterdammers' lineup due
to a string of injuries but last season scored 17 goals for Heracles where
he's been on loan. The latest signing practically completes Den Haag's
reinforcements for the coming season although NAC's Jeffrey van As may be
added shortly to Rinus Israël and Lex Schoenmaker's team. He's already
training with the Haagenaars and could well be offered a deal shortly.

Haag are bidding farewell to Youri Petrov and Emiel van Eijkeren. The 27
year-old Russian forward is returning to RKC, where his contract runs till
2003, after a season on loan to the Eerste Divisie side while Van Eijkeren's
contract is not being renewed. The 34 year-old former AZ, NEC and Utrecht
striker played 29 Eerste Divisie matches last season, scoring 16 goals.
