De Graafschap sack Peter Bosz |
31
May 2003 |
| Ex-Feyenoorder
Peter Bosz's first year as trainer has ended in deception after
being told he must leave De Graafschap following their relegation
from De Eredivisie on Thursday. Although a draw would
have been sufficient in their last game against relegation
threatened Zwolle, the 'Super Farmers' were once again unable to
make a stand. Bosz`s
position has been in jeopardy for some time and his failure to hold
De Graafschap in the Eredivisie was the final straw for the club.
Club President Derk Haank said: With the relegation, Bosz`s
departure is a fact. "We are going to work hard as a board to
put things right. Our objective is to return to the top level.
The squad will remain as it
is and will be added to with the number of players the new
coach wants. 'During the season we talked about it with Bosz, and
gave him confidence to finish this season,' Haank added.
'But next season we have to make
a fresh start in the second division and we will do that with a
fresh coach.' |

| Van
der Haar to stay with De Graafschap |
28 May 2003
|
|
De Graafschap striker Hans van der Haar has
insisted he will stay with the bottom of the table club if they are prepared
to upgrade his present contract. Although The 28-year-old striker believes
that the club were right in offering him his initial deal, he now believes
that having netted 10 goals in 32 games for De Graafschap, it is now time to
see that rewarded with a new iimproved deal. Van der Haar: "A
month-and-a-half ago I indicated what I wanted. There hasn't been a reaction
to it yet. When I started
here, I got a small contract. That was deserved, because I wasn't fit and I
hadn't played for a year-and-a-half. Actually
that has to be upgraded now. Firstly I play for my pleasure, but my family and
I have to eat every now and then. And you have to earn it in a couple of
years."

Ajax - De Graafschap |
18
May 2003
|
|
Ajax hope to secure their second place this
afternoon as rivals Feyenoord face top of the table PSV while the Amsterdammers
face strugglers De Graafschap. With just three games to go Ajax
are just one point above Feyenoord, a victory this afternoon over De
Graafschap would give them a four point lead over the Rotterdammer and would go a long way to securing their
second place. Despite relegation threatened De Graafschap's low position Ronald
Koeman does not believe that this guarantees Ajax the three points . Ronald Koeman
"People might think if we start the
game well and get the early advantage maybe De Graafschap won't be motivated for
the whole game because they have more important matches still to come, but I
don't expect that. They need every point at the
moment." De Graafschap have never
won in Amsterdam and it is more than likely that the visitors will start with a defensive line-up with
additional defender Milan
Berck Beelenkamp in the lineup as extra defender while Hans van de Haar will be
De Graafschap's lone striker.

match-winner in the 3-2 against NAC, put the visitors ahead in the 61st
minute, giving the Doetinchemmers hope of causing an upset in the Gelredome.
Kalle Sone grabbed the equalizer 5 minutes later and Mike Snoei's boys stay
in 11th place.

More bad news at De Graafschap -
Jean-Paul van Gastel has picked up a hamstring injury during training which
will keep him out of action for the rest of this year. The Doetinchemmers
Belgian defender Kevin Nicolay will miss Sunday's match against Vitesse due
to an old ankle injury, leaving trainer Peter Bosz with three choices for
the role of central defender: Tim Bakens, Milan Berck Beelenkamp and Michael
van der Kruis.

De

van Vossen, van der Haar, Schulp
NAC
lineup :

Boussaboun - van den Eede, Bobson
De Graafschap made a miraculous
recovery this evening, coming back from 0-2 down to win the match 3-2. NAC
thought they were sitting pretty going into the break with a 0-2 advantage
after Fehér put them ahead in the 18th minute of the game and
Boussaboun increased the lead in the 24th.
After Hans van der Haar reduced the gap to 1 goal in the 62nd minute it was
full steam ahead for the homeside, pushing on for all they were worth. Peter
van Vossen's 86th minute equalizer and Tim Baken's 92nd minute late goal
were a just reward for the home side's efforts.

Broerse - Ikedia, Salmon, Tuhuteru.
De Graafschap lineup: Wevers - Bot, Van Gastel, Bakens,
Hermans - Zafarin, Van Leerdam, Hertog, Ter Avest - Van Vossen, Schulp.
This was an important relegation scrap for the
two teams with Groningen still looking to get a win, their 2nd point of the
season or at least a performance for new trainer Ron Jans to feel encouraged
about. It fulfilled all expectations for the home team with 2nd half
goals by Glen Salmon (64th), Rolf Landerl (77th), and Martin Drent (80th)
that clinched the points, Rody Turpijn scoring the visitors' consolation
goal in the 87th. The Doetinchemmers drop to last place on 4 points
while the Oosterpark side are now 17th on 5 points.

| Vreman
out till after winter-break |
13 Nov 2002
|
| De
Graafschap defender Jan Vreman is going into hospital for surgery to
correct a tendon problem and will be out of action till after the
winter-break. The foot injury has already sidelined the 37 year-old, who's
in his last season in Doetinchem, for the last 7 weeks. Vreman played his
first match for the SuperBoeren back on March 29th 1986 against PEC Zwolle
(1-0) in the Eerste Divisie and has made 371 appearances for them
since, scoring 11 goals. |

An injury-time goal by Mounir El Hamdaoui

gone ahead with a Tim Bakens goal but didn't manage to hold on to the slim
lead. At least the result put an end to their run of 8 defeats.

| Heerenveen
beat De Graafschap 3-1 |
02 Nov 2002
|
|
Heerenveen
lineup: Vonk - Venema, Hansma, Hansson,

De
Graafschap lineup: Wevers -
Bot, Berck Beelenkamp, Van der Kruis, Hermans - Culina, Van Leerdam, Van
Vossen, Ter Avest - Valeev, Van der Haar.
Although Heerenveen were
anything but convincing Petter Hansson was able to profit from a mistake by
goalie Jurgen Wevers to put the Frieslanders ahead in the 14th. De
Graafschap were even less impressive than the home team, even though they
could really do with the points, and were fortunate to draw level with a
scrambled effort by Hans van der Haar in the 44th. After the break Petter
Hansson scored from a Mika Nurmela freekick in the 53rd and two minutes
later Romano Denneboom put the final score on the board.

yet to confirm the story but Van Gastel says, " We reached

Graafschap offer Van Gastel deal |
30 Oct 2002
|
|
De Graafschap have made
former Feyenoorder Jean-Paul van Gastel an offer and given him till the end
of the week to react. Van Gastel has been without a club since terminating
his deal with Italian side Como last summer and has been keeping fit
with the Doetinchemmers while looking for a new employer. Trainer Peter Bosz
wanted to add him to the squad some weeks ago but, at the time, the club
didn't have the financial means to do so. Since then they have managed to
find backers who are prepared to cough-up the money allowing this present
offer to be made.

Graafschap trial for Japanese player |
22 Oct 2002

Japanese youth international Yuki
Abe looks set to arrive in Holland during the winter-break for a trial with
De Graafschap. The 21 year-old JEF United Ichihara player, who is one of his
country's most promising talents, is not about to sign for the
Doetinchemmers as his current employer are only interested in accelerating
his development by exposing him to European football via trials with various
clubs. It's no coincidence that they've chosen De Graafschap as
'SuperBoeren' coach Peter Bosz was under contract to the Japanese side in
1996 and 1997. Abe is also set to have a trial with RC Strasbourg whose
trainer Ivan Hašek is also a former JEF United player.

De
Graafschap lineup: Wevers - Bot, Van der Kruis, Hermans, Berck

NEC

Govedarica, Simr - Demouge, De Nooijer.
NEC continue their run of good
performances with this 1-3 away win against De Graafschap at the Vijverberg
stadium, giving the "Superboeren" their 6th consecutive defeat.
NEC, who won their last match in Doetinchem on August 20th 1995, struck in
the last half-hour, Patrick Ax and Gorgi Hristov putting them 0-2 up with
goals in the 62nd and 70th minutes. Arvid Smit's 88th minute goal gave the
home team a flicker of hope that was dashed a minute later when Danny Hesp
put the 1-3 on the board.
|
| De
Graafschap - NEC preview |
18 Oct 2002
|
De Graafschap trainer Peter Bosz
is 'not amused' with a team in 16th place in the Ere Divisie, strikers who
just can't find the back of the net and a defence weakened by absentees.
Tonight they play host to NEC who've hade a firm start to the season and
welcome back Patrick Ax ,who's competing with Jarda Simr for a place in the
lienup, and striker Gorgi Hristov. De Graafschap have only scored 5 goals so
far and have lost their last five matches. The Doetinchemmers miss Tim
Bakens (4 match ban), the injured Jan Vreman and Kevin Nicolay in defence.
Facts and Figures:
NEC usually find it difficult to do well at the Vijverberg stadium. They've
only won twice in their last 11 visits, with two draws and 7 defeats. Their
last success there was a 2-3 win on August 20th 1995.
De Graafschap have lost their last 5 matches and failed to score in their
last three against: Feyenoord (2-0), PSV (4-0) and Twente (0-1).
De Graafschap's Peter van Vossen is still waiting to score his 25th Ere Divisie
goal.
NEC's René van Rijswijk could make his 100th appearance for the Nijmegen
side and Mike Zonneveld could make his 50th.
|
| Hristov
returns to Holland early |
15 Oct 2002
|
|
Gorgi Hristov has paid heed to
NEC's request that he skip Macedonia's EURO 2004 qualifier against England
and has made an early return to Nijmegen. The striker played for his country
in last Saturday's match against Turkey but both he and the club have
decided not to take any further injury-risks. Hristov is only recently
returned from a spell on the injured list after undergoing two separate knee
operations last season and this season being injured during an international
against Liechtenstein.

| NEC
beat Groningen 2-0 |
02 Oct 2002
|
|
NEC
lineup: Gentenaar, Wisgerhof, Wielaert, Hesp, Zonneveld, Schuurman,
Govedarica, Simr, Hersi, De Nooijer, Demouge.
Groningen
lineup: Beukenkamp, Elshot, Boekweg, Matthijs, Kruiswijk, Ikedia, Hugo,
Hoogstrate, Broerse, Salmon, Tuhuteru. Groningen
are in crisis, sunk as they are at the bottom of the table, after yet
another defeat. They provided poor opposition for NEC and failed to create
anyngs worth mentioning tonight. The northerners started the match
with Claus Boekweg and Hugo back in the side after spells on the injured
list. Neither side made much of an impression in the theng 30 minutes
till Youssouf Hersi put the home team ahead in the 33rd. The referee, Mr.
Luijten, had to be replaced at halftime after being injured.
Groningen-trainer Dwight Lodeweges tried to turn things around by bringing
on Krstev for Hugo and Curovic for Hoogstrate but it didn't help. NEC
remained in control while Groningen failed to get any chances in front of
goal. Dennis de Nooijer and Frank Demouge came close with headers before De
Nooijer sealed the points with a 2nd goal. NEC climb to 6th place while
Groningen stay sunk in 18th.

| Man
City interested in NEC's Gentenaar |
01 Oct 2002
|
|
NEC keeper Dennis Gentenaar's fine performances
this season have attracted the interest of English Premiership side
Manchester City. City manager Kevin Keegan sent a scout to watch the 27
year-old in action during Sunday's Ere Divisie match between NEC and
Heerenveen (4-2). Gentenaar made his debut for the Nijmegen club in 1995 but
it was only in the 2000/2001 season that he earned a regular place in the
lineup.

NEC
lineup:
Dennis Gentenaar, Rob Wielaert, Peter
Wisgerhof, Danny Hesp, Resit Schuurman, Dejan Govedarica, Youssouf Hersi,
Mike Zonneveld, Jarda Simr, Dennis de Nooijer, Frank Demouge. Heerenveen
lineup: Hans Vonk, Ronnie
Venema, Tieme Klompe, Arjan Ebbinge, Erik Edman, Arek Radomski, Mika
Vayrinen, Abgar Barsom, Mika Nurmela, Stefan Selakovic, John de Jong.
NEC got off to a reasonable looking start
against Heerenveen who needed to make an impression after their disastrous
start to the season. The home team went ahead in the 13th minute from a Rob
Wielaert freekick and the score was doubled in the 26th when an unmarked
Jarda Simr was able to blast in for the 2-0. Youssouf Hersi scored the 3rd
on the hour with a great distance lob over goalie Hans Vonk's head. Stefan Selakovic scored a controversial goal for Heerenveen in the 66th
(a was it or or wasn't it over the line goal) but Dennis de Nooijer restored NEC's lead
in the 72nd before John
de Jong, on loan from PSV and making his debut for his new team, put away Heerenveen's 2nd of the afternoon in the
74th. It was a good performance by Johan Neesken's men who climb to 8th
place while Heerenveen languish in 17th with still that one lonely point to
show after 6 matches.

NEC
lineup: Gentenaar - Wisgerhof, Hesp, Wielaert, Zonneveld - Schuurman,
Govedarica, Hersi, Simr - de Nooijer, Demouge.
Willem II and NEC shared the points tonight in
a 1-1 draw in Tilburg, the first time that the Nijmegen side took home a
point in the last 4 seasons. Danny Hesp put away a spot-shot in the 28th
minute to give the visitors the lead before substitute Jattoo Ceesay equalized on the
hour. The match saw Willem II's Denny Landzaat play his 200th
professional match and NEC's Danny Hesp his 350th!

lose to Roda 2-4 |
15 Sep 2002
|
|
NEC lineup: Gentenaar
- Wisgerhof, Wielaert, Hesp, Zonneveld - Schuurman, Hersi, Govedarica, Simr
- Demouge, De Nooijer.
Roda
lineup: Kujovic - Sonkaya, Luijpers, Rudge, Filipovic - Van Mieghem,
Vicelich, Sérgio, Soetaers - Anastasiou, Cristiano.
Roda will be travelling home to Limburg with 3
hard-fought points in their collective pocket after this tough confrontation
in Nijmegen's De Goffert stadium. Dennis de Nooijer hadd the score for the
home team in the 19th minute but Belgian striker Tom Soetaers drew the Kerkrade
Crew level in the 44th. Youssouf Hersi returned the advantage to the
Nijmegen side a minute later but ten minutes into the 2nd half Brazilian
striker Cristiano equalized for Roda and went on to score his 2nd of the
afternoon in the 62nd to give the visitors a 2-3 lead. It acted as some kind
of signal for the home team to start kicking out at their opponenents' legs
as the match turned ugly for the remaining half-hour. Surprisingly, referee
Herman van Dijk kept his red cards in hsi pocket and only awarded yelloews
to NEC's Rob Wielaert and Dejan Govedarica. Tom Soetaers put away his 2nd of the match for the
2-4 in the 88th to seal the points. Wiljan Vloet's team passed the 1400th
Ere Divisie goal mark with Soetaers first of the afternoon and it was also
the 7th time they've won at Nijmegen. The 'Kerkrade Crew' climb to 5th place
while NEC stay in 10th.

| NAC and
NEC in goalless draw |
31 Aug 2002
|
|
NAC
lineup: Babos - Colin, Penders, Schenning, Gudelj - Fehér, Slot, Schreuder,
Boussaboun - Van den Eede, Bobson.
NEC
lineup: Gentenaar - Schuurman, Wielaert, Hesp, Wisgerhof - Simr, Govedarica,
Hersi, Zonneveld - De Nooijer, Demouge.
There
were no records tonight for either team as the match ended in a goalless
draw. NAC and NEC treated the fans to a bloodless
display tonight in Breda with the hometeam being rather the better of the
two but without managing to create any real goal-scoring chances. NEC
clearly came to get a point and that's exactly what they took home.
|
| NEC
beat AZ 2-0 |
23 Aug 2002
|
|
NEC have made up for their defeat by Feyenoord in
the Nijmegen side'sng match of the season last weekend with a
competent 2-0 win against AZ tonight. It was their 20th meeting and the 9th
victory for the home team. The match itself was nothing special and NEC were
fortunate to go ahead with an early goal by former AZ player Danny Hesp who
slotted the ball home from 11 metres in the 3rd minute. AZ could have
notched up the 1400th goal scored against the Alkamaarders tonight but
failed to do so and seemed demotivated by the early deficit, even though
they enjoyed more possession than their opponents. They twice came close to
scoring but Dennis de Nooijer's 2nd goal for the home team put an end to any
idea of resistance they might have had. To make things worse referee René
Temmink, who handed out a total of 8 cards, sent off AZ's Barry van Galen in
injury time.

| Patrick
Ax fears two month absence |
19 Aug 2002
|
|
NEC's Patrick Ax picked
up an injury in the pre-season friendly against Real Zaragoza which was
to keep him out of action for 4 weeks but he's fearing that the problem is
worse than diagnoised and that he could be out of action for two months.
Despite his youth he's already built up a history of injuries and his
recovery from this latest problem is not proceeding as fast as expected.
Talking to provincial broadcaster 'Omroep Gelderland' he said that he can
still only walk with plaster on the ankle. "I have the feeling that
there is more wrong with my shin and that it will be 8 weeks before I can
kick a ball again."

beat NEC 2-0 |
18 Aug 2002
|
Feyenoord
lineup: Zoetebier, Gyan, Van Wonderen, Paauwe, Van Haaren, Emerton, Bosvelt,
Ono, Lurling, Kalou, Van Hooijdonk.
NEC lineup: Gentenaar,
Wisgerhof, Wielaert, Hesp, Zonneveld, Schuurman, Govedarica, Hersi, Simr, De
Nooijer, Demouge.
Feyenoord squeezed past NEC this afternoon and were the better team
during the 90 minutes but the Nijmegen side put up plenty of resistance and were
not going to be pushed aside. It was a late burst by the Rotterdammers that gave them victory today against a
resilient opponent. Temperamental Cameroon striker Bonaventure Kalou tested
Bert van Marwijk's patience today (as so often happens) - when he's in the match
he's capable of great things, but when he's not he tends to give away the ball
far too often. Van Marwijk refused to replace him and was rewarded for his faith
when Kalou put away a beauty of a volley in the
77th from a Van Persie pass. 4 minutes later, Australian international Brett Emerton in the
81st gave them the points and their first win of the season.

| NEC
looking good with 2-1 v.Real Zaragoza |
07 Aug 2002
|
|
NEC continue to look good as they prepare for the
coming season with a 2-1 win against Spanish side Real Zaragoza. Dejan
Govedarica and Dennis de Nooijer scored their goals while Yordi got one back
for Real. The 2nd half was ruined by a flurry of yellow cards and red cards
which also saw striker Patrick Ax carted off to hospital with a feared
fracture of the shinbone. It'll be at least 4 to 5 weeks before he's ready
to return for duty!

| Latuheru
signs for Al-Wahda |
15 July 2002
|
|
Bart Latuheru will be continuing his
professional career with a move to Bahrein side Al-Wahda after he was told
he wouldn't be getting a new deal with NEC. The 36 year-old forward will
be joining fellow Dutchmen Tiny Ruys and Danny Hoekman who are coaching
the Gulf club. Latuheru originally wanted to play for a club closer to his
home in Capelle aan den IJssel but couldn't resist the offer he was made.
Last month it looked as if the former international would sign for newly
promoted Excelsior but the deal didn't go through. Latuheru has so far
played 492 professional matches for Excelsior, Vitesse, AZ and NEC.

| Stefan
Jansen returns to Den Bosch? |
10 July 2002
|
|
Stefan Jansen looks set to move from NEC to Den
Bosch, where he's seen as the replacement for Bart van den Eede, after the
two clubs agreed terms. Jansen joined the Nijmegen side in 2001 from TOP
Oss as the Eerste Divisie top-scorer but failed to live up to expectations
and was told at the end of the season that he could leave. If the deal
goes through it'll be a return to familar territory for the striker who'd
arrived in Den Bosch in 1993, scoring 19 goals in 39 matches before moving
on to play for Cambuur Leeuwarden. He then went abroad to Italy during
the1996/97 and 1997/98 seasons where he played for, amongst others,
Salernitana.

training with the Nijmegen squad as they prepare for next season and will

last season, and it was his own decision to move to NEC.

28 May 2002
|
| Bart
Latuheru looks set to return to Excelsior, the club where he began his
professional career, and spend another year footballing before hanging up
his boots. The 36 year-old, who is holding talks today with the newly
promoted club, was not offered a contract extension at NEC. He made his
debut for Excelsior in the 1985/1986 season. Excelsior-trainer Adrie
Koster announced that he was looking for experienced players to reinforce
his young squad and Latuheru fits the bill with 492 league matches undre
his belt for Excelsior, Vitesse, AZ and NEC.

| Neeskens
uninterested in assistant van Gaal |
12 May 2002
|
|
NEC
trainer and former Dutch international Johan Neeskens has said that he has
no intentions whatsoever in a reunion with Louis Van Gaal as his assistant manager
if/ when Van Gaal returns to
Barcelona. Neeskens stated on Dutch television "I am my own boss now,
I was Gus Hiddink and Frank Rijkaard's assistant for four
years when they were in charge of Holland. Now I would only accept managerial job offers and
certainly not
ones as an assistant!!"
|
| Hristov
signs for one more year with NEC |
07 May 2002
|
|
Georgi Hristov has signed a one-year deal with
his current club NEC. The Macedonian international, who had attracted the
interest of Twente and Willem II, decided to remain with NEC because of
the way NEC have supported him during his injury problems
this season. Hristov said "I
received offers
from Twente and Willem II but decided to sign new deal with NEC! I'm very
pleased that my club continued to have faith in me while I was injured and now I can
pay them back with a lot of goals.
I'm also very happy now because I can play for the national team without
problems. It will be great to return and play against teams such as
England and Turkey."
|
| NEC
let Tumba and Jansen go |
07 May 2002
|
| NEC
have told Zico Tumba and Stefan Jansen that they can start looking for a
new club. Both players joined the Nijmegen side last summer, from De
Graafschap and TOP Oss respectively. Jansen was the Eerste Divisie's top
scorer last season but has failed to produce the goods in the Ere Divisie.
They lost their places in the lineup to Frank Demouge, who's just had his
contract renewed, and Dennis de Nooijer who was on loan from Heerenveen
but has just signed a permanent deal. Macedonian striker Gorgi Hristov has
also just signed a new deal after returning from long-term injury which
means there's not enough room in Nijmegen for that many forwards.
|
| NEC
