Heerenveen and Veendam end cooperation

Ere Divisie side Heerenveen and Eerste Divisie side BV Veendam have decided to end their cooperation after a number of loan deals failed to reap any benefits. Veendam are believed to be discontent with the quality of the players that Heerenveen have lent to them with only striker Ivan Cvetkov making the grade out of the in total 9 players that have been lent to Veendam.  The club's  director Johan Tukker,said in an interview in the provincial newspaper 'Dagblad van het Noorden'  "We were not happy with how things went, that is clear, and after two or three discussions with Heerenveen we came to this conclusion. The cooperation is ended but we will keep up informal contact with them. After all, we are still neighbours.
Hamming to swap Fortuna for Veendam

Veendam look set to swwop for Fortuna Sittard's striker Ronald Hamming now that the 30-year-old forward has lost patience with the club at their inability to perform in the Eerste Divisie.  Hamming's, who has played for Fortuna for the past nine years has stated that he would like to return to his native county, Drenthe saying. 

"I have talked with my wife about this and we both would like to go back to Drente," 
"We have a little daughter of 19 months and a second is on its way.
"That's why we want to return and stay there for the rest of our lives. But I also want to play football another three to four years."
Veendam director John Tukker said the club were pleased that they can finally add Hamming to their squad after an earlier attempt to sign the striker five years ago failed.
"We see Hamming as the ideal man to play together with Paul Weerman up front,"
"We were after him about five years ago, but then we couldn't reach a deal. Now it seems that the signs are better for us."

Veendam reserve goalie off to Groningen

37 year old goalkeer Egbert Darwinkel has swapped Eerste Divisie club Veendam for Ere Divisie side Groningen where he will replace reserve goalkeeper Aldo Swager who is out of action for the rest of the season with an injury.

Ere Divisie club Groningen and their northern neighbours Veendam have agreed to swap players. The Oosterpark side's Icelandic midfielder Joey Hardarson, who has only managed two first team appearances this year against amateur clubs in the Amstel Cup, is heading for Veendam while the Eerste Divisie side's out-of-favor player Anton Jansen, currently on loan from Groningen, will be returning to his old club. Veendam's trainer Jan Korte is unsatisfied with Jongsma's motivation and believes that Joey Hardarson is more suited to Veendam's style of playing. Korte is also convinced that the Icelander should make a perfect midfield-duo with Ronnie Pander.

Heracles draw 1-1 with Veendam

Heracles dropped 2 valuable points this evening after their 0-0 draw against Veendam.   Both teams had opportunities to breakthe score but the goalkeepers were on form tonight.  Brian van Loo held Heracles in the game, stopping shots from Yuri Rose, Paul Weerman and Max Houttuin and towards the end of the match somehow managing to save a shot from Heracles's own defender Ruud Jansen.  Veendam's goalie also had a busy night helping his team snatch the 1 point with saves from Rik Platvoet , Yuri Rose and Thijs Sluiter.
Veendam beat Telstar 2-1

Stormvogels Telstar had a stormy night this evening losing 2-1 to Veendam and ending the match with 9 men . Although Telstar took the lead in the 24th via a Sjaak Lettinga goal they were no match for Veendam tonight and were justifiably beaten by goals from Paul Weerman 64th and Armand Mac Andrew 79.
MVV lose to Veendam 0-2

MVV strengthened their position at the bottom of the table after losing yet another home game. Paul Weerman put the visitors ahead with an early 3rd minute goal. Defender Lesmond Prinsen made it 0-2 in the 30th minute. 
Veendam beat Fortuna 2-1

Veendam had a comfortable win against lowly placed Fortuna this evening. Although Fortuna took the lead in the 25th minute via Laszlo Meszaros in the 25th, they never looked as if they would be on the winning side. Erwin Buurmeijer leveled for the homeside 5 minutes before the break. Veendam's top scorer Paul Weerman put the final score on the board in the 57th minute of the game.

Eindhoven beat Veendam 5-2

Eindhoven and Veendam started the match enthousiastically enough with Luciano van Kallenng the score in the 6th but only two minutes later Paul Weerman drew Veendam level. Leon Hese put the home team ahead in the 23rd and, after the break, Ties Konings made it 3-1 in the 53rd. Five minutes later Ismail Ayaz effectively sewed up the match with the 4-1 before Max Houttuin closed the gap slightly in the 72nd only for Van Kallen to score his 2nd of the match in the 80th for the final 5-2 scoreline.

Den Bosch went into the break with a comfortable lead via goals from Jan Michels (19th) and Koen van der Laak (35th). Paul Beekmans made it 3-0 for the home side, 5 minutes before time.
Korte drops Zimmerman at Veendam

Veendam trainer Jan Korte has relegated Bert Zimmerman to the reserve squad as an unavoidable but necessary disciplinary measure. "As trainer I try to make certain agreements with my squad but Bert continually ignores them, is not receptive to coaching, turns up too late and so on", Korte told Dutch football magazine 'Voetbal International. Zimmerman joined the Eerste Divisie side from Groningen last summer and has so far played 6 games for them. 
Veendam beat VVV 3-2

Veendam narrowly beat VVV this evening 3-2 in a entertaining match. Lesmond Prinsend for Veendam in the 9th, Christophe Geebelen pulled one back in the 16th. Paul Weerman put the 2-1 and the 3-1 on the board with his 5th and 6th goal of the season, bringing him into joint 3rd position on the Eerste Divisie top scorers list. Bas Jacob put the final 3-2 score on board in the 66th minute.
Veendam and Haarlem draw 3-3

Veendam played host to Haarlem, both teams wanting to improve their modest ranking with 3 points. Darl Douglasd the score in the 5th minute, Rick Slor equalizing in the  27th. Haarlem went ahead again after the break with a goal by Jeroen Ketting. Marnix Kolder drew Veendam level in the 66th but Ketting put away his 2nd of the match in the 70th to restore Haarlem's advantage. Marnix Kolder was sent off fo rhis 2nd yellow card before Paul Weerman put the final 3-3 on the board with an injury time spot-shot.

Sparta beat Veendam 5 - 2

Sparta booked their 3rd win of the season tonight, after beating Veendam 4-2 at "Het Kasteel". Sparta went into the break with a monster 4-1 lead after goals 1 and 3 from Conteh (2nd and 33rd) plus 2 and 4 from Koevermans (29th and 45th). Veendam forward Paul Weerman also found the back of the net twice, scoring the 1-1 equalizer in the 4th minute and reducing the gap to 4-2 in the 54th minute. Sparta forward Van den Berg put the final score on the board in the 84th minute of the game.

Veendam draw with Volendam 2-2

Veendam and Volendam drew 2-2 this evening, with both teams putting on a poor display. Volendam' forward Ouhsaine  gave the visitors the lead in the 36th minute with a powerful 25 meter shot. On the stroke of half time Veendam leveled after Slor Headed in a free kick.  After Buys made it 2-1 for Volendam Slor put the final score on the board with his second goal of theevening.

Go Ahead Eagles beat Veendam 2-0

Go Ahead Eagles made ammends for last week's home defeat by Volendam with a convincing 2 - 0 win against Veendam. Both teams, who were both in the race for the 1st period title, started poorly and were clearly having problems creating any chances in front of goal. In the second half the Eagles were more aggressive which resulted in a Dick Kooijman goal in the 51st minute. 20 minutes later Jamal Dibi made it 2 - 0.

Emmen go top of the Eerste Divisie after this convincing 3-1 away win against Veendam tonight. The Drente team put the Groningers in their place with two goals by Ruud Berger (9th minute header from a Rodney Cairo cross and in the 48th tapped in from close by) and a beauty of a header by Donny de Groot in the 58th while Paul Weerman got a consolation goal 15 minutes before time. 

Helmond lose to Veendam 0 - 2

Helmond lost their 2nd game of the season last night. After a goalless first half Paul Weermand the score for the visitors with his second goal of the season. Helmond fought hard to get the equalizer and were unlucky to be treated to a last minute goal by Erwin Buurmeijer.

Veendam earned themselves their first win of the season after  convincingly beating Top Oss 4 - 0. The visitors, playing their first game of the season already found themselves trailing 1 - 0 when Mark van Eijk found the back of the net after only 8 minutes of play. Van Eijk was also responsible for the 2 - 0, just 4 minutes after the break. Paul Klinker and Michiel Klinkers added another 2 goals to the score in the 69th and 72nd minutes.

Cambuur beat Veendam 1-0

English defender Dave Rogers scored in his first match for his new club in the 39th minute to give Cambuur the points in this local derby. Both teams had chances in this tough meeting but Rob McDonald's team claimed the points.
Veendam hire Groningen's Jongsma

Veendam have added Anton Jongsma to their squad for next season. The 19 year-old midfielder is being hired from Groningen where he made one appearance last season as substitute in the 2-0 win against De Graafschap. He remains under contract with the Oosterpark side till the summer of 2004 and could be fielded against them in the coming Amstel Cup qualifier on August 13th.
Ten Caat returns to amateur status

Theo ten Caat is returning to the amateur ranks after 18 professional years. The 37 year-old midfielder has been told he's not being offered a new deal with Veendam and he's applied to join amateur side Hoogeveen. Ten Caat made his prof debut in the 1984/1985 season and has played 413 matches, scoring 53 goals. He also previously played for Hoogeveen as well as prof sides Twente, Groningen, Aberdeen and Vitesse.
Heerenveen hire out Van Eijk to Veendam

Heerenveen are hiring out Mark van Eijk to Eerste Divisie Veendam next season. The 20 year-old forward was also being targeted by RBC Roosendaal, Cambuur Leeuwarden and English Premiership side Ipswich Town. Van Eijk has only made 6 Ere Divisie appearances, during the 1998/1999 season, since arriving at Heerenveen 5 years ago and his contract with the Frieslanders runs till 2005. 
Tukker to be Veendam's general manager

Johan Tukker is to succeed Henk Nienhuis as Eerste Divisie Veendam's general manager. The 47 year-old former goalkeeper (he played for Cambuur Leeuwarden, Groningen, Heracles Almelo, Heerenveen and Veendam) currently works for Eindhoven. Dutch football magazine Voetbal International's chief-editor Johan Derksen recently turned down the job of general manager at  Veendam.
Emmen sign Arjan Blaauw

Emmen have signed Veendam's Arjan Blaauw on a contract for two years. The 28 year-old defender previously played for the Eerste Divisie side in the 1993/1994 season when he was on loan from Groningen to the Drenthe club, turning out in 12 matches. He spent the first 5 seasons of his professional career with Groningen before moving to Veendam where he's played during the last 5 years. Blaauw is the 2nd Veendam player to be signed by Emmen in recent weeks, Berend Oosting being the other.
