his worth and has seen PSV constantly buy new strikers while he remained
on the bench. In the six years that Bruggink has been at the club he
has seen the likes of Ronaldo, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Luc Nilis,
Mateja Kezman and Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink come to Eindhoven and even
when the new stars were unable to impress, Bruggink remained on PSV's
bench.

goal-getters are incredibly expensive." PSV went on to compare
himself with European top-scorer and Dutch international striker Roy
Makaay. "Makaay is a fantastic striker and as players we are very
similar. However, I am 5 years younger than Makaay and have therefore far
more to offer in the future." |

| Hiddink
hoping to lure bench-sitters to PSV |
25 May 2003
|
PSV coach Guus Hiddink believes that a
solution to attracting big star names to Eindhoven could be resolved by
hiring the players that cannot force there way into the overfull squads
of some of Europe's top clubs instead of trying to buy them. Rather
than spend heavily in the transfer market, PSV coach Guus Hiddink is hoping to
lure under-used star players like Chelsea's Boudewijn Zenden or
Real Madrid's Fernando Morientes to the club this summer and although Hiddink
named no names he did make clear that PSV have their focus trained on players
warming the bench at their current clubs.
Hiddink "There must be players like that who want to play every game,
rather than to sit on a bench. Our scouting is working hard on this plan and
we now have a list of players that we would like to sign on loan. We
are searching for a central defender, a midfielder and a striker."

even prepared to play in Holland's Eerstedivisie.
Gakhokgidze: "I moved to PSV to play and not to
sit on the bench. Unfortunately, the competition for
places at the club now has not allowed me to play. I spoke about this to Guus
Hiddink and he agreed that PSV will let me go. I don't know where I will be moving
to yet, but I expect to know soon. I would even agree to move to the

| Preview
Feyenoord - PSV |
18
May 2003
|
High stakes at the top of the table today as Feyenoord
face PSV at home this afternoon
knowing that defeat will surely end the hopes of the coveted second place
whereas victory for PSV would all but guarantee them the Eredivisie title.
Feyenoord also go into the game knowing that that their last confrontation with
PSV last November ended in a 1-2 victory for the Rotterdammers, bringing PSV
their one and only defeat of the season. Feyenoord
will have to miss starlet Robin van Persie, who received a two-match ban for his red card against Utrecht.
Van Persie could have lodged an appeal which would have given him the rights to
play today but decided not to risk the chance of being handed out an even higher
penalty.
Van Persie "After deliberating with the coach, this
seems the smartest thing to do, I could have played against PSV when I went
into appeal, but the risk would be too high and I could get a higher suspension
by appealing, certainly with the Van Hooijdonk case in mind, then I
would risk playing the Cup final on 1 June."
Japanese wizard Shinji Ono will also miss the
game after having just recovered from a fever. Ono has been plagued with the
health problems all season, the result of an overfull program. Feyenoord
coach Van Marwijk: "His health has been ruined in the past two
years by the overloaded international schedule. He did not have any time to
rest. It is time that FIFA and UEFA adjusted their playing schedules together to
avoid this," said Feyenoord coach Bert van Marwijk.
Although PSV have only lost one game this season (the home clash against
Feyenoord) they could well face a second defeat this afternoon due to
their goalkeeping problems. First choice, Dutch international Ronald Waterreus is out for the rest of the season
after undergoing surgery and with second and third-choices on loan
elsewhere, PSV youngster Yves Lenaerts will have to face the lions.
PSV trainer Hiddink "I have confidence in that boy. He played
well against Excelsior, but Sunday is an other match. Our defensive players must
help him."

16

|
|

who is currently on loan to AZ, has attracted the attention of Utrecht who would
also like to lend the PSV-er for next season. Although unable to secure a first

rather see him lent out for one more season so that he can gain more Eredivisise
experience. Although PSV have already given AZ their consent to hire Lamey for
one more season, Utrecht are planning to make a move before any papers have been
signed. Lamey is not yet prepared to
state his preferance for next season saying: "I'm having a great time at

Raay calls for Benelux competition |
09 May 2003 |
|
PSV chairman Harry van Raay has once again made
a call for the formation of a Benelux football league in which
Holland, Belgium and possibly Luxembourg would all take part. Van Raay

Luxembourg and Belgium's Flemish community only speak French. In an
interview in the Belgium daily newspaper 'De Standaard' van Raay said:
"I don't want to have the Belgian
language problems in it. "If we have that, the organisation will
be ten times more expensive as normal. Business like that's unacceptable.
In a new competition structure maybe
two French-language teams will be playing. They have to adjust to
us." t is also possible that a Luxembourg club
might join.

goal-machine Kezman breaks record |
27 Apr 2003 |
|
PSV goal machine Mateja Kezman has
become the second only foreigner to score more than 30 goals in the Dutch
competition in one season after slamming home a hat trick in PSV's 1-6
hammering of De Graafschap. Kezman, now on 31 goals, is
just five goals behind Ajax's Greek striker Nikos Machlas who scored 34
goals for his former club Vitesse in the 1997/98 season to earn himself
the prestigious golden boot award. Kezman is now PSV's second best
all time scorer but will undoubtedly fail to pass ex-PSV striker and
record holder Dillen who managed an incredible 46 goals in the 1956/57

intensive two year preparation to last summer's world cup, is in need of a
long earned holiday. "I will see if I still have any influence in South
Korea"

PSV's third choice goalkeeper, youth
international Gino Coutinho has been lent out to
Eerste Divisie club Den Bosch for the rest of the season. Den Bosch are
faced with having lost first choice goalkeeper Kris Mampaey to AZ who needed
a replacement for the injured Dutch international , Oscar Moens.
Coutino will have to compete with Martijn van Strien for a
first team place. Den Bosch's technical director Fred Hoorn stated,
"They will have fight it out between themselves." adding
"Gino is a talented goalkeeper and furthermore he was born and bred-up
in Den Bosch which should be an added bonus for our spectators.

14 Mar 2003
|
| PSV
stars Young-Pyo and Lee have been called up for Korea's match against
Columbia on March the 29th which is to be held in the Busan Asiad Main Stadium in
Busan. However, PSV fans will not have to worry that this will
affect their side's chances of winning the league title this year as
both players will not be missing any PSV matches because Holland face
The Czech Republic in a Euro 2004 qualifying match and consequently the
Dutch competition is closed down between the 24-March and 3-April. This
will be Young-Pyo and Lee first match for Korea since joining PSV.

contract extension PSV's Jurgen Dirkx |
13 Mar 2003
|
|
PSV defender Jurgen Dirkx has been told by PSV that he must look out
for a new club after informing him that his contract that runs this
summer, will not be renewed. The defender had come up through PSV's
youth scheme before playing for Fortuna between 1995 and 1998. He was
recalled to Eindhoven in November 1998 by Sir Bobby Robson but made
fewer and fewer appearances, partly through injury and partly because of
the intense competition for 1st team places. The 26 year-old has little
chance of getting back into the team now and has set his sights on a
move to Willem II.

PSV
go into tonight's match against Johan Neeskens's NEC seven points ahead
of Ajax and even though their recent performances have not been
impressive Hiddink's side should just have the edge to set fifth placed
NEC aside. The PSV coach has stated that he would like to see more
flair in PSV's coming matches as he believes the supporters deserve more
entertainment. "The points are very important, but we also must give our fans a
good evening with a lot of goals. We must play the same way as we did against Zwolle. You cannot
play the whole match at the same level but we must stay concentrated."
Korean star Young-Pyo Lee is set to continue at left-back after impressing in the
last four matches, forcing Jan Heintze out of the squad. Lee's
fellow compatriate, Ji-Sung Park is also expected to make his return
after recovering from an injury.
NEC are without striker Dennis de Nooijer who is still recovering
from a stomach operation so Zico Tumba will be their solitary central
striker . Johan Neeskens has stated that his side is not planning to
play suicidal football tonight so we will probably see a rather
defensive NEC. "I know how PSV play and I don't want to play suicidal
football in Eindhoven."

still interested in Arthur Numan |
05 Mar 2003
|
|
Arthur Numan, who is contemplating hanging up his boots after refusing a
new reduced deal from Glasgow Rangers, could well make a return to PSV after coach Guus Hiddink hinted
that he will offer Numan the chance to return. Hiddink is in need of a
replacement for Danish veteran Jan Heitze, who will be retiring at the end
of this season and believes that Numan is the ideal replacement. On PSV's
we3bsite Hiddink said: "Arthur Numan is a fantastic professional player with a good
mentality. He's a player you can always count on." Last
month Numan stated in an interview in the Dutch daily newspaper 'Algemeen
Dagbald' that it
was a bad idea to re-build his career in the country he came from.
If Numan is prepared to come back on his decision remains to be seen.=

refuse Lee and Park to play friendly |
05 Mar 2003
|
|
PSV have made an official request to the South Korean Football
Association that they do not select Lee Young-pyo and Park Ji-sung
for their friendly match against Japan on April 16. If PSV win tonight's
Amstel Cup match against Heerenveen then the Eindhovenaars will also have to
play the semi final on the same day as Korea's friendly match. PSV have also
stated that even if the South Korean's call up Lee and Park they will not
give head to the request as the
game is not on the official FIFA agenda which means they are not obligated
to let their players go.

Jong demands clarity from PSV |
04 Mar 2003
|
|
PSV striker John de Jong who is currently on loan to Heerenveen has told PSV
that we wants to know what they have in stall for him at the end of the
season and is hoping that the club will inform him this month what their
plans are. The 25-year-old former
Utrecht player spent only one season at PSV before being loaned out to the
'Friesians'. In that year he was unable to secure a first team place and
Hiddink's new Korean strike force, de Jong is probably aware that his
chances of return to Eindhoven are limited. Even so, De Jong is still keen
to return to the club but has stated that he is prepared to look elsewhere
if the need arises.

a regular team member but has only managed one first team appearance for the
Dutch national team.

invited to attend the inauguration of South Korea's new president and is
hoping to clinch a deal with the 22 year old striker at the same time.
PSV are supposedlywilling to pay €2.5 million for Lee who made a good

return to PSV for Arthur Numan |
19 Feb 2003 |
|
Arthur Numan has confirmed that we will be leaving Ranger this Summer
after failing to reach an agreement for a new contract extension.
Numan hasn't completely closed the books on a new Ranger deal and has stated
that if Rangers come with a new improved offer then he is still willing to
renegotiate. However the chance of that happening is very unlikely according
to Numan's agent Joop Korevaar: "The
difference between what we were asking and the offer was too big.
Numan has now also stated that he is not planning to return to the Dutch Ere
Divisie which puts an end to all the speculations of
him returning to PSV or a making the move to Feyenoord. Speaking in the
Dutch daily newspaper the "Algemeen Dagbald" Numan said: "It
doesn't work out when a player tries to re-build his career in the country
he came from. I have looked at
Jorg Albertz's return to Germany with Hamburg and learned a lesson from that
move." |

Kezman no longer international |
19 Feb 2003 |
PSV's
striker Mateja Kezman has announced that he is no longer prepared to come
out for his home country Serbia and Montenegro (formerly known as
Yugoslavia). The 24 year old Kezman's decision to stop with
international football has come as a blow to his country and to their
Football Association's presidient, Dragan Stojkovic.
The 24-year-old PSV Eindhoven star made the decision after his countries 2-2
Euro 2004 qualifying match against Azerbaijan last week.
Stojkovic: "He told me he would withdraw from the national team
because of the huge differences in his play for PSV and the national
team," said Stojkovic. "I advised him to calm down and think again
but he has made up his mind. He could not answer my question about when he
would play again. I told Kezman that he should not feel responsible for the
result against Azerbaijan - we all have to be held responsible, me, the
coach and all the players. I do not care if Savicevic calls up Kezman or
someone else for our next match against Wales, I just want a victory.
This is a key match for us as a loss of points would mean goodbye to Euro
2004 and that would be catastrophic. In that case some heads would have to
roll."

not keen on keeping Arnold Bruggink |
18 Feb 2003 |
|
Striker Arnold Bruggink's crunch talks with PSV
this week will be resumed in March but have very little chance of
resulting in a new deal now that PSV trainer Guus Hiddink and chairman
Harry van Raaij have stated that it would be far better for the player to
find another club. In the Dutch daily newspaper 'De Telegraaf' Hiddink said:
"As the situation now stands we are not planning to make use of the one
year option we have on Bruggink, although in the coming months things could
change. I find it very painful and never like having to tell a player this
sort of news, especially when it concerns a fantastic professional. We have now
discussed it with him and it now up to Arnold to decide his future".
PSV's chairman Harry van Raai added "Arnold has always been a very
useful player but has never managed to secure a first team place. With
Leandro do Bonfim, Arjen Robben and Ji-Sung Park, our coach already has
three very talented young players leaving Bruggink as fourth choice.

the Premier League or return to his former club, PSV. The 32 year
midfielder said " I don't know yet, Stay at Barcelona ? Life is
fantastic here but you have to look to your future. If I go to another
country then England has my preference, that's not a hard decision. Whether
I shall return to Holland ? Then of course PSV. That's where my roots are

and PSV to hold crunch talks |
11 Feb 2003
|
|
Striker Arnold Bruggink is set to have
crunch talks with PSV this week to battle out his future with the club.
Bruggink, although enormously talented, has never been given a real chance
at PSV to prove his worth and has seen PSV constantly buy new strikers while
he remained on the bench. In the six years that Bruggink has been at
the club he has seen the likes of Ronaldo, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Luc Nilis,
Mateja Kezman and Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink come to Eindhoven and even when
the new stars were unable to impress, Bruggink remained on PSV's bench. Up
till now PSV's new coach Guus Hiddink hasn't given the slightest inclination
that Brugginks contract, that runs out in the Summer, will be renewed.

| According
to the Dutch provincial daily paper " Eindhovens Dagblad" PSV's
Brazilian midfielder Leandro do Bonfim, is refusing to go into hospital for
a groin operation. The 19 year old talent, who has been out of action
for the past three months, is apprehensive to undergo surgery after
hearing from a Brazilian physiotherapist that the injury should disappear if
given rest. PSV's own doctor Cees-Rein van den Hoogenband, father of
double Olympic gold swimmer, Peter van den Hoogenband, is convinced that an
operation is necessary. Leandro decided that he would like a third opinion
