Eredivisie outfit Twente are reported to
be targeting Belgian side Lierse SK's Axel Smeets. The
28-year-old right-back has been unable to force his way into Lierse's first
team and has been told that he may leave transfer free now that the cclub
have already contracted his replacement,Bertrand Crasson of Anderlecht.
Smeets, who has played for Belgian side
Standard Liege as well as Spanish outfit Salamanca and Premier League club
Sheffield United. refused an offer to stay from Lierse who then opted to
move for Crasson.
