| Spanish
side Alaves release Jordi Crujff |
11 Jun 2003
|
Spanish
outfit Alaves, who have just been relegated from the Spanish Primera
Liga, have announced that they will be releasing nine players this
summer in order to survive the financial malaise.
One of the most prominent names to be released is that of Dutch winger
Jordi Cruyff. The club insist that they can no longer afford former
Manchester United star's salary. Alaves president Gonzalo Anton also
stated that players who wished to remain with the club would be facing
massive pay cuts, or told to move on. "They
will see their salaries reduced by 70 percent, if not it will be difficult
for them to stay." |
