Although Newly-promoted Premiership side
Portsmouth have
rubbished reports suggesting that they are interested in Vitesse
defender Dejan Stefanovic, Vitesse have announced that they are
currently holding talkls with the Premier League outfit. Vitesse have
been forced to put the Serbia & Montenegro centre back in the summer
sale due to their financial position and are forced to listen to offers for
the player, whose contract runs out in 2006. Vitesse's technical manager Jan
Streuer said: "We are waiting for an offer. We want to see what they
are willing to spend on Dejan. If
it's correct that they want to pay two million euros then Stefanovic will
absolutely stay here." Portsmouth
manager Harry Redknapp confirmed earlier this week he was tracking a
defender from Europe, but insists that his club have little to spend.
Redknapp "We have a budget of about €5.5 million Euros and that
includes the wages. If you
consider that we need six or seven players then you'll understand that we
are not interested in spending money on transfer fees."
