| Clubs
line up for goalkeeper Ed de Goey |

Jun 2003 |
Former
Dutch international goalkeeper Ed de Goey who has been informed that there
is no more room for him in Chelsea's squad next term has been targeted by
a string of clubs. The 36-year-old veterean is available on a free
transfer which has alarmed Premier League sides Birmingham City and Wolverhampton Wanderers
as well as Turkish outfit Fenerbahce, who have already held talks with De
Goey's agent Ger Langendijk.
Lagendijk: "It is correct, we are in talks with both clubs (Fener and The Blues).
There has been no concrete offer
yet, I would say at the moment they are informal discussions. Also, the promoted English side Wolverhampton Wanderers have an interest in De
Goey. But that interest comes via a commissioned agent. That club has not yet made contact with me
directly."
Birmingham, who have just failed in their attempts to lure Arsenal's
veteran goalkeeper David Seaman to the club believe thatDe Goey`s profile
suits their requirements. |
