Leo Beenhakker to leave Ajax this summer

02 Jun 2003

Ajax technical director Leo Beenhakker has asked the club to accept his resignation and will now be leaving the club on the 31st of July. Beenhakker declared that due to personal reasons he will now be furthering his career abroad.
Beenhakker: "I would like to make it clear that I am extremely content at Ajax. The club is doing really well and Ajax's  future looks bright. However in my private life I have had a few setbacks that are difficult for me to accept here."
Ajax have stated that they understand Beenhakker's situation and respect his decision.
Regarding the technical directors successor, Ajax's director Arie van Eijden said: "We will deliberate the situation during the coming months. We certainly will not be making any hasty decicions. For the time being Leo is still employed."
