PSV midfielder John de Jong who has been
on hire to Heerenveen all season, has returned to Eindhoven after both clubs
failed to reach an agreement over a permanent transfer to Heerenveen. De
Jong, who has two years left on his contract, will now have to spend the
majority of next season on PSV's bench. Although Heerenveen were keen to
keep De Jong for another year, PSV were only prepared to let the ex-Utrecht
striker go for cash which Heerenveen have admitted they do not have. PSV
have admitted that they are still hopeful of offloading the player. "If
De Jong wants us to negotiate a deal with another club, we will do that. We
are still at the start of the transfer window." according to a PSV
spokesman.
