| Ibrahimovic's
agent plays down Roma move |
07 May 2003 |
Zlatan Ibrahimovic's agent Anders Carlsson has
played down any rumours suggesting that the Ajax striker could be on his
way to Roma this summer. AS Roma president Francesco Sensi has made
a number of statements recently claiming that a summer move was
imminent. Carlsson, however, is
confident that the Swedish international will decide to stay in Holland.
"My feelings are that Zlatan will stay
another year at Ajax," said Carlsson. There's
a shortage of cash at most European clubs and I think Ajax will want more
money than Roma or any other club would be willing to pay."
Carlsson also believes that it would not be in Ibrahimovic best interest
to move to the Seria A at this stage in his career.
"It wouldn't work," Zlatan could end up in a situation
where, if things don't go well from the start, Roma will stick him on the
bench for the rest of the season as he can't be sent back."
