| Holland
beat Belarus 2-0 |

After a goalless first half, it looked
as if Holland could well be facing a 0-0 stalemate in this evening's Euro
2004 qualifier against Belarus. However a Marc Overmars blaster and a
Patrick Kluivert touch of magic ensured that Holland coasted to a
comfortable 2-0 victory. Although Holland were slightly the better of
the two sides in the first half, their weak performance justified the 0-0
half time scoreline, However in the second half, they went into overdrive.
Although in turbo-mode, it took until the 60th minute of the match before
Hollandd the score when Marc Overmars, who came on for Giovanni van
Bronckhorst in the 58th, soloed past three defenders before letting
rip from 35 meters. Nine minutes later Patrick Kluivert picked up a Clarence
Seedorf cross. With the ball still high in the air Kluivert somehow
side-footed the ball with precision timing into the far corner of the
goal.
Hopefully Dick Advocaat will come to his senses for Holland's following Euro
2004 confrontations and begin with Ajax star Van der Vaart and perhaps
Overmars in stead of Chelsea bench sitter Zenden.
