Chelsea are
reported to be targeting Dutch international midfielder Philip Cocu. The
Barcelona all rounder is out of a contract this summer and is still
waiting to hear whether or not he will be offered an extension and although
Barca's interim trainer Roddy Antic would like to hold onto the
32-year-old, Barcelona look set to wait until the upcoming presidency
elections before making any decisions. The
former PSV Eindhoven star is in his sixth term with the Spanish outfit but now
appears set to quit Spain. Cocu's former club PSV have stated they would
like to bring him back to Eindhoven but now Chelsea have now joined the
race for his signature, the chance of him returning to Holland to finish off his
career has diminished. Chelsea are planning ahead and are preparing their squad
for next season's Champions League campaign, and Cocu - who is a free agent this
summer and available for no fee - would fit the bill.
