According to reports in the English
media Arsenal were present during last Sunday's Dutch FA Cup final to
monitor Utrecht goalkeeper Harald Wapenaar who is out of contract this
summer. The reports also suggested that Arsenal were contemplating offering
€700,000 to Utrecht which would seem rather strange as the goalkeeper is
transfer free. Utrecht have
stated that they are not aware of any interest for Wapenaar but confirmed
that the goalkeeper would not be offered a new contract and that he was free
to sign for any club. The
33-year-old looked set to be moving to Ajax to replace second choice
Didulica who has signed for Austria Wien, but saw a move fall through at the
last moment.
