Ajax have signed Belgian youth international Thomas Vermaelen on a two-year deal, with an option for a further two years.  Vermaelen came to Ajax two year ago after he impressed at the club's academy at Germinal Beerschot Antwerpen. Since his arrival in Amsterdam  who he has forced a regular team place in the Ajax under-19 side.
