Roma continue interest in Ibrahimovic |
05 May 2003 |
AS Roma president Franco Sensi has
again confirmed his interest in Ajax Amsterdam striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic
stating that the club have made an official offer. It has also been
suggested that Roma were prepared to pay 50% of the transfer sum now and
the rest this summer.
"It's true the boy interests us. Indeed we have already asked Ajax
for half his registration. About figures, obviously, I cannot tell you. We
wait for a reply from Ajax."
Roma transfers chief Franco Baldini will meet with Ibrahimovic this week
to discuss a five-year, £1 million-a-season, deal.
Roma are reported to be meeting Ajax in London next week to hold further
talks.
In spite of Ibrahimovic's absence from Ajax's squad yesterday due to his 5
match ban, the Amsterdammers had no trouble in finding the back of the
net, which has often been the case this season when Zlatan has been
sidelined.
