Jong Ajax's trainer
Gerard van der Lem has revealed to the Saudi press that he's close to
finalising the deal which will see him move to Saudi Arabia
as
the national team's new technical director. "I am finalizing the terms of the move with Ajax Amsterdam before signing officially as coach of the Saudi Arabian national team."
Talking on the phone to popular Saudi daily Al-Riyadh on Saturday, the Dutchman
had this to say: "Three assistants will be assisting me in my new mission, two of them are Dutchmen and the third from South Africa.
The team I am taking with me have a wealth of coaching experience here in Holland. This was a main
point in my discussions with the Saudi officials who gave me a free-hand to
obtain the best entourage for the work-at-hand here in Riyadh.
"I'm currently rounding off my talks with Ajax in order to end my contract with
the club on friendly terms. I am head coach of their Under-23 squad and I
want to honour the contract with Ajax in a professional manner." Ajax's administration has been very cooperative in this regard, and the
next step will be the official signing of the contract with the Saudi FA in
the next few days in Paris, so that it can be officially announced to the international media," he concluded.
