| Liverpool
let Ajax favourite Litmanen go! |
22 July 2002

Liverpool have turned their back on Finnish
former Ajax striker Jari Litmanen! He's been told that there's no room for
him in the squad at Anfield Road and, after only playing in 26 matches for
"The Reds" (and 14 of those as substitute) he's likely to leave
transfer-free. With five other strikers to choose from (Michael Owen,
Emile Heskey, Milan Baros and the recently signed El-Hadji Diouf) manager
Gérard Houllier figures that Litmanen has the least chance of getting a
match. Nevertheless, the crowd favourite (at both Ajax and Liverpool) has
never complained about his treatment and has still managed to score 5
goals under the adverse conditions he's experienced at his 'favourite'
club! Several of "The Reds" supporters sites are crying shame at
his treatment, claiming that the Fin is one of the most creative players
to ever grace the fields of English football and has never been given a
serious chance to shine! Who knows - if Ajax have their wits about them
they'll snap him up and bring him to the ArenA!
