Tonight's match between NAC and NEC in Breda is
the 30th meeting between the two teams in their time as professional clubs.
If NAC manage to score they will have put away their 1600th goal since the
start of professional football in Holland in 1956 when Leo Canjels scored
their first against NOAD on September 9th of that year. If NEC concede a
goal it will be a negative milestone for the Nijmegen side as it will be the
1400th 'goal against' in the history of the Ere Divisie. NEC are close to
another, even more negative, record as they have collectively collected 995
yellow cards since their introduction in 1972 and are thus close to the
rather unmagical 1,000 mark. Statistics predict that NAC will find it
difficult to beat NEC as it's 6 years since they beaten the Nigmegenaars at
home, the last time being a 2-1 win on February 24th 1996 thanks to goals by
Jan Gaasbeek and Twan Scheepers, Danny Hoekman scoring for NEC.
