Ajax's Greek striker, Nikos Machlas, has revealed on the Amsterdammers' website that
he will be looking for a new club during the January transfer window
period. Before arriving at the ArenA, Machlas made furor as Vitesse's super-goal getter
where he was awarded the coveted 'Golden Ball' award as Europe's top scorer during
1998/1999 when he scored an amazing 34 goals in 32
matches.
Since the arrival of
Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Egyptian star goal-getter 'Mido", Machlas
has been unable to secure a first team place with the Amsterdammers.
Although unhappy with the present situation Machlas stated that he was
not prepared to move to any old team. "I intend to go and look for a new club, but it has to be a good team. I
won't go and play for just anybody and if I stay with Ajax, I really hope to play more often," he added on the
club's website.
