| Ognjenovic
gets trial with Ajax |

Perica Ognjenovic has been offered a
trial with Ajax. The 25 year-old Yugoslavian winger will be trying to
impress coach Ronald Koeman during the coming days as Ajax try to find an
alternative for Vitesse's Victor Sikora who's signed for Fulham.
Ognjenovic was once regarded as one of the most promising players in
Europe when he was playing for Red Star Belgrade and clubs were queueing
up to sign him. Real Madrid, coached at the time by Guus Hiddink, finally
snapped him up. A long-term injury problem meant he played only 12 matches
for the Spanish club in one and a half seasons and, due to the heavy
burden of his extravagant salary, he was allowed to leave transfer-free.
At the beginning of this year he signed for German side FC Kaiserslautern
but also failed to make much of an impression, making only two appearances
as a substitute. He was given the chance to play in last night's friendly
against Eerste Divisie Haarlem which the Amsterdammers won 1-0.
