future at stake |
08 May 2003 |
Eerste Divisie outfit MVV looked set
to lose their professional status and could now well be in their final season after
their president Henk Kesler revealed the club has no future in

for next season due to the clubs inability to settle their €1.5 million
Euros debts and with players, coach and staff still waiting for several
months wages .
In an interview in the Dutch provincial daily newspaper 'Dagblad de
Limburger Kessler said "MVV is the only club where the structure is
wrong. "In contrary to clubs like TOP

Players from Eerste Divise side MVV are threatening court
action and will have the club declared bankrupt
unless they are paid their wages by next Tuesday. According to the Dutch
daily newspaper 'De Telegraaf' the players went on strike on Thursday and after
talks with the players union (VVCS) they refused to train. The players union's
president Theo van Seggelen stated in the article "It is high time to put some more pressure on the management of
MVV," The last couple of months the salaries have been paid only with a
lot of difficulties. That must change quickly. The players also have to pay their rent or mortgages. They have the
right to be paid on time."
"It has never happened before that players ask for the bankruptcy of
their club, but we see no other possibility of forcing the board to pay the
wages (in time),"

Dutch FA for MVV |
14 Mar 2003
|
| Eerste
Divisie club MVV, who
were doubting if they would be able to pay their players wages this
month due to their financial crisis, have seen the
Dutch FA (KNVB) come to their assistance by advancing them money for TV
rights. Coach Ron Elsen cancelled training on Monday after the wages
announcement but was convinced that the board would find a solution to
the problem saying "As long as I've worked at MVV, and I've done that for 16 years,
I've always received my salary in time," MVV's general manager
Marcel Franssen added "Thirty families now have their money. That is a relief. But the
end of this month will show another fight," Captain John Mutsaers was
also relieved to hear the news saying "The worries are over for a while. But we wonder if the
club will have a filled cash register at the end of this month. The doubts in the squad are high. And this will take its toll
on the results too. Unrest is never good."

I've always received my salary in time and I have full confidence that the board will work out
something so that we can start with the whole squad on Friday in our own

in conflict |
04
Aug 2002
|
|
MVV and their trainer Roger Reijners have had a
negative exchange of opinions in the provincial neswpaper the 'Limburgs Dagblad'
concerning the early departure of coach and squad from the club's recent
day. The fans were sorely disappointed not to see their team but Reijners
thought it more important to prepare the team for a friendly match than to stay
and make contact with their supporters. "The boys need their rest in order
to prevent any unnecessary injuries occurring and this kind of 'Day'
'is something I can do without"! Club manager Marcel Franssen reacted
furiously in the same paper saying, "The last word has not been spoken. I'm
really angry that all our fans turned up for nothing and I can quite understand
their feeling of being let down! The club has already become alienated from the
town of Maastricht and this incident doesn't help when we are trying to get back
to basics. The one day should have been a real happening for the fans and the
players".
