Vittese booked three valuable
points against fellow degradation candidate Zwolle
with a sleezy 2-1 home win.
Vitesse dominate this match from the word go but had trouble finding the
back of the net during the first half hour due to a couple of fine saves
from Zwolle goalie, Johan van der Werff. In the 32nd minute of the game, Der
Werf was unable to stop Michael Janssen heading in Mathew Amoah's free kick
for the 1-0. Excelsior drew level in the 60th minute of the second half
after Jhonny Beukering, on loan to Zwolle from Vitesse, netted for the 1-1.
However just 2 minutes later Excelsior were once again trailing when Belgian
striker Bob Peeters slammed home for the final 2-1 from the edge of the
penalty area with a powerful shot.
