NEC beat Vitesse 2-0

08 Dec 2002

Trainer Johan Neesekens will be relieved that his team have finally earned themselves a decent result, after the recent string of disappointments in which they've only won one point in 6 matches , with this 2-0 home win against Vitesse. For Mike Snoei it will not have been the rehearsal he would have wanted for Thursday's UEFA Cup clash at Anfield Road against Liverpool. It was an entertaining match where both sides had their fare share of chances to score but the home team were rather better in their finishing, Gorgi Hristov putting them ahead on the half-hour and Peter Wisgerhof making it 2-0 in the 70th. Vitesse have only won one point in their last 4 matches and sink further down the table to 12th place on 16 points while NEC are now 10th with 18 points but a game in hand.
