Youssouf Hersi's second half goal against relegation threatened De Graafschap was enough to give NEC all three points, lifting them to fourth position and proving Peter Bosz wrong. Bosz had stated before the match that his team were ready to frustrate the home side. NEC player Patrick Ax and De Graafschap player Milan Berc Beelenkamp were both sent off before the break for obnoxious behaviour.
