AZ got off to a fast start against Ajax in the
ArenA but Ajax went on to win and go top of the table after this convincing
6-2 win. Kenneth Perezng the score for the Alkmaarders in the 3rd
minute and Barry van Galen's attempt, a couple of minutes later, hitting the
bar. Ajax's Egyptian striker Ahmed Mido Hossam, replacing the injured Zlatan
Ibrahimovich, scored twice in the 10th and 12th minutes. The first was a fine
header from a Van der Meyde cross and the second a simple goal from close
by. Jari Litmanen added a 3rd in the 22nd to give the
Amsterdammers a comfortable 3-1 half-time lead. The Finnish international and
crowd favourite has clearly recaptured his form of old and came up with a fabulous
lob to beat Oscar Moens two minutes into the 2nd half. Kenneth Perez scored
his 2nd on the hour to close the gap as AZ fought back but substitute
Nourdin Boukhari put away two of his own in the 89th and 92nd minutes for
the final 6-2 score.
