AZ beat Excelsior 4-1

AZ's Moroccan striker Ali Elkhattabid the score for the home side in the 19th minute after Kenneth Perez nodded on Jose Fortes Rodriguez free-kick leaving Elkhattabi to net from 5 meters. In the 38 minute of the game Elkhattabi was once again on target, coolly lifting the ball over goalie Varkenvisser for the 2-0 half time score-line. After the break Elkhattabi was responsible for the 3-0 after receiving the ball with his back to goal, he quickly turned past defender Ferry De Haan before driving the ball towards the goal. Excelsior defender Swerts tried to kick the ball behind for a corner, but ended up netting in his own goal.
In the 60th minute Mark Nygaard reduced the gap to two goals with a 30 meter blaster. With just four minutes remaining on the click substitute Martijn Meerdink finished off a run down the right wing a cross towards the near post. Ex-Feyenoorder Nelisse reacted with a clever back-heel shot that left goalie Varkevisser completely wrong footed.
