Ajax suffered a painful 2-4
home defeat to rivals PSV this afternoon and hand over the no.1 spot to the
Eindhoven side. Young talent Arjen Robben put the visitors ahead
with a fine shot after soloing through Ajax's defense. Zlatan Ibrahimovich
had a couple of great chances saved by Waterreus, and another disallowed for
offside, before putting away a rebound for the equalizer in the 27th. Three minutes into the 2nd act, Ere Divisie top-scorer Mateja
Kezman put PSV ahead with a close range shot and Ajax could begin all over again.
Ajax's man of the match,Andy van der Meyde took care of a
rebound in the 55th to draw Ronald Koeman's team level. Two goals by
Vennegoor of Hesselink, the first a controversial header in the 57th
preceded by a foul and accompanied by another, pouncing on a rebound in the 78th
minute,
knock Ajax off top-place and maintain PSV's record of being unbeaten in Ere
divisie matches in the ArenA.
