Ajax were held to a 1-1 draw this afternoon in the Amsterdam Arena after having
to field half of their reserves due to injuries. Earning only just the one
point means they are
still lagging four points behind league leaders PSV Eindhoven, but remain seven
points clear of their Rotterdam rivals, who really needed to win to keep
their season alive. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who finally seems to be adapting to
the Amsterdammers way of playingd the score for Ajax in the 28th
minutes, hammering in a van der Meyde cross from close range. On the stroke
of half time Feyenoord's young striker Robin van Persie levelled the score
to follow the five goals he scored in the Amstel Cup in midweek. Although
Ajax were by far the better side in the second half they were unable to
produce the winner.
