| De
Boer willing to return to Ajax |
31 Dec 2002
|
|
Frank de Boer has
stated on Amsterdam's local TV station "AT5" that, although he would rather
stay in Barcelona until his contract runs out, he would have
absolutely no problem in returning to end his career with Ajax if the Amsterdammers needed
him. With Rumanian international Christian Chivu on most of the European top
club's shopping list, an end of season switch is increasingly likely for the
robust defender. Should Chivu decide to leave Ajax at the end of the season
then the transfer-free De Boer could be the ideal replacement.

BZZTöH. Korbach, who was born in Germany but raised in Holland, has trained

30 Dec 2002
|
|
Michael
Reiziger has attracted the attention of Premier League club Newcastle United
and has been informed by his current club Barcelona that they will not stand in his

his squad and hopes to seal the deal during the mid winter-break transfer
window.

| Juventus
target Kluivert |
29 Dec 2002
|
|
According to the Italian
sports-newspaper Tuttosport, Juventus are targeting Dutch international
Patrick Kluivert. Although it's
not yet known how Kluivert feels about a move, he did state
recently in La Gazzetta dello Sport that he would love to play with Del
Piero and Trezeguet. The
Barcelona forward is also currently in his 5th term at the club and could
well be tempted to make a return to the Serie A. Louis van Gaal, who
is desperately looking for new goal-getters, is unlikely to agree to club
top-scorer Kluivert leaving Barcelona.

| Chelsea
and Barcelona in Hasselbaink talks |
28 Dec 2002
|
|
Chelsea
have informed Barcelona that they have no intention whatsoever of hiring
Jerrel Hasselbaink to the Spanish club for the rest of the season but that
they would be prepared to sell the Dutch international for the right price,
stating, if Barcelona want Hasselbaink, then they will have to buy him. With
this statement Chelsea have more or less given the green light for a
transfer. The 30 year old Hasselbaink has himself said he will only be prepared to
make the move if Barcelona agree to a 4 year contract.

| De
Goey helps Chelsea in 0-0 draw |
27 Dec 2002
|
|
Ex-Dutch international, and former Feyenoord
goalkeeper, Ed de Goey put on a fine demonstration for Chelsea yesterday in his first appearance of the season, resulting
from 1st choice goalie Carlo Cudicini's calf injury. De Goey prevented Southampton taking the lead in
the 75th-minute, stopping a deflected shot from Southampton-back Svensson
with his feet, and a few minutes later he turned-away a well struck Fernandes free kick.
Chelsea, are now undefeated in their last 12 games.
|
| Conflicting
reports Hasselbaink transfer |
25 Dec 2002
|
|
Conflicting reports continue
on the
transfer market regarding Jerrel Hasselbaink. The Dutch international, who
is currently top of Louis van Gaal's Christmas shopping list, has been
quoted as saying that he would love to demonstrate his goal-scoring skills
at Barcelona and would welcome the switch to sunny Spain, while at the same
time stating that he wants to remain at Stamford Bridge and help 2nd
placed Chelsea to the Premiership title. Hasselbaink's agent has added fuel
to the speculations, stating that Hasselbaink is enchanted with his
current coach Ranieri but, at the same time, dreams of Barcelona. Chelsea, who
have an enormous deficit and still owe Barcelona a considerable sum for
Boudewijn Zenden, could well be tempted to make use of the mid-winter break
transfer window.

| Hasselbaink
talks of leaving Chelsea |
23 Dec 2002
|
| According
to stories in the English press, Dutch international Jerrel Hasselbaink is
considering leaving Chelsea during the winter transfer window. "There
will not be many clubs who can afford to make me a better deal than I
currently enjoy with Chelsea while both Claudio Ranieri and the club will
need my goal-scoring abilities." The Chelsea manager was less than
pleased with Hasselbaink last summer when the striker said he was ready to
move to a new club and put him on the bench for a few matches at the start
of the current season. |

| Kluivert
hat-trick eases Barca pressure? |
22 Dec 2002
|
|
A Patrick Kluivert hat-trick ,and a goal from Marc
Overmars, ensured an easy away win for Barcelona against Mallorca,
easing the pressure on Louis van Gaal and lifting Barcelona to 10th place.
Van Gaal's team were somewhat fortunate as Mallorca were reduced to 9
men in the 1st half when Alvaro Novo and Samuel Eto'o were sent for
early showers. Even so, the goals from Kluivert were of exceptional
class and the 4-1 margin could have been even greater. Whether or not the 1-4
result is enough to pacify his critics and prevent Van Gaal being sacked still remains to be seen. In an
interview on Dutch television, shortly after last night's match, the
former Oranje coach stated that he believes his dismissal is inevitable,
claiming that he will most likely receive his marching orders before Christmas.
|
| Wijnhaard
back in a month |
22 Dec 2002
|
|
Dutch forward Clyde Wijnhard has
been
quick to deny the stories circulating claiming that his knee injury
spells the end of his career
and will be returning to Amsterdam this week to
continue his recovery from an operation he had back in October. Although
he'd returned to match-football, playing three matches, he'd been hampered
by fluid in the knee and a new examination seemed to indicate the possible
end of his footballing days. Unsatisfied with this diagnosis Wijnhaard wnet
for a second opinion which has revealed that he'll probably be back in
action after a month's rest and recuperation. His club, Oldham Athletic,
will be glad to hear the good news as Wijnhaard is 'The Latics' top
scorer!

the accusations, will not be facing a ban as the incident escaped the eye of
the referee.

| Van
Nistelrooy in 2005 return to PSV? |
17 Dec 2002
|
|
Dutch international Ruud van
Nistelrooy has been expressing his wish to return to play for, and even
captain, PSV in 2005. Talking to the Eindhoven side's press officer, Pedro
Salazar-Hewitt, the Man United striker has been explaining that he'd like to
win a few more prizes with United in the next two years before coming back
home in 2005, and would be proud to get the chance to lead PSV to a few of
their own!
|
| Wijnhaard
out for 12 months |
17 Dec 2002
|
|
Clyde Wijnhard faces a long
absence through injury, and even possibly the end of his career, with the
news that the 29 year-old will be going into hospital for extensive surgery
on his knee. It's the 2nd operation this season for the striker after an
earlier operation in October failed to relieve the problem. Wijnhaard, who
currently plays for English Second Division side Oldham Athletic, could be
out for at least a year and may never regain the level of fitness required
to allow him to continue his career. It's a real blow for the former Ajax,
Groningen, RKC Waalwijk, Willem II, Leeds United, Huddersfield Town and
Preston North player who was in top form in recent matches, putting away 11
goals in 17 games. He's been plagued by injury in the last few years, only
returning to the game after a long absence due to a car accident back in
September 2000.

| Van
Gaal to quit Barcelona ? |
16 Dec 2002
|
|
Speaking on Dutch television last
week, Barcelona coach Louis van Gaal stated that last night's match against
Sevilla was of crucial importance and that if Barcelona
should lose this match then he would most likely hand in his notice to the club. Although
Van Gaal
has a very impressive Champions League record with the team, their domestic
record this season is abominable. Most Spanish clubs seem to have no
trouble whatsoever in beating the once so mighty team. During last night's
0-3 defeat, Barcelona fans waved their white handkerchiefs as a token of their
discontent, another sign that the trainer's days are numbered.

| Van
Nistelrooy sets new club record |
13 Dec 2002
|
|
Ruud van Nistelrooy is back in
the record books after his two goals in Wednesday's C-L clash against
Deportivo La Coruña, making him currently Manchester United's joint top
scorer in the Champions League on 18 goals with Andy Cole, although Cole
took 49 matches to score his total while 'Van the Man' only needed 20. Paul
Scholes is in 2nd place on 17, followed by Ryan Gigs on 16. "I'm not
here to break records', he told the Manchester Evening News, "I'm here
to do my best for the team and the fans, and if I happen to set a new
record, all well and good. The most important thing is to see that we're top
of our C-L group." Van Nistelrooy is currently 4th in the list of
all-time C-L top-scorers with 26 goals, along with Filippo Inzaghi. Ahead of
him are Raúl, Alessandro Del Piero and Patrick Kluivert, but Van Nistelrooy
has by far the best average: 26 scored in 30 matches.

Nistelrooy gets two for United |
12 Dec 2002
|
|
A razor-sharp Ruud van
Nistelrooy scored two goals for Manchester United against Deportivo La Coruña
last night in their Champions League clash to give the Mancunians a 2-0 home
win. The Dutch international was the The Red Devils' undoubted Man of the
Match, finding the back of the net with 4 goals but having two of them
disallowed. His Oranje teammate Roy Makaay, on the opposing team, didn't get
a look in, and neither did his team. Deportivo goalie Juanmi had to pull off
an athletic save to prevent an early goal but couldn't stop Van the Man's
7th minuter, a fine header. Van Nistelrooy saw another header,
together with a shot soon after the break, disallowed before his 55th minute
2nd goal went on the board.

seconds for Celtic to go ahead when Chris Sutton scored but, in a
spectacularng half, Rangers were 3-1 up by the half-time whistle
through goals by Craig Moore, Ronald de Boer and Michael Mols. The 2nd half
was only slightly less spectacular until Celtic reduced the gap through

| Makaay
scores twice for Depor |
02 Dec 2002
|
|
Roy Makaay's two goals for
Deportivo La Coruña against RCD Mallorca yesterday maintain his ranking as
top scorer in the Spanish Primera División but were not enough to secure
his team the points in the 2-2 draw. Makaay put Depor ahead in the 9th
minute but Walter Pandiani, ironically enough on loan from Depor, equalized
in the 30th. Samuel Eto'o gave Mallorca the lead on the stroke of half-time
before Makaay drew his team level and earned them a point. The Dutch
international is now joint top-scorer along with Darko Kovacevic.

'steaming-form' with two C-L goals last night in Manchester United's 1-3
away win against Swiss side Basel. The Dutch international has now scored 6
C-L goals in 4 matches, taking his team to the top of their group. It was
anything but an easy win for the 'Red Devils' as the home team went ahead
after only 37 seconds of the match through Christian Giménez. Van
Nistelrooy finally found the back of the net in the 62nd with a header from
an Ole Gunnar Solskjær cross and added a 2nd only 60 seconds later, scoring
a blinder of a goal from an almost impossible angle. Solskjær dealt the

back for Oldham |
25 Nov 2002
|
|
Clyde Wijnhard made his return
for Oldham Athletic last weekend in the 0-0 draw against Cheltenham Town.

a better time for his club who are having plenty of problems scoring goals
while Wijnhaard has already put away 10 in 12 matches.
|
| Van
Nistelrooy gets 3 for United |
23 Nov 2002
|
|
Ruud van Nistelrooy looks to be
finally returning to the form he showed last season with a hattrick against
Newcastle United in Manchester United's 5-3 win at Old Trafford. After a
slow start to the season, in which he could only find the back of the net
with spot-shots, the Dutch international has scored in his last 4 matches
with goals against Bayer Leverkusen, West Ham United, Oranje's friendly
against Germany and today's 3-goal harvest. Van Nistelrooy, who's scored 8
Premiership goals so far (compared to the 23 last season), scored in a 15
minute spell between the 38th and 53rd minutes before being substituted in

| Arie
Haan denies China story! |
22 Nov 2002
|
|
Arie Haan has told Dutch language
football site VIPlanet.nl that he knows nothing about the story that's been
circulating since yesterday claiming he's signed a contract to be the new
coach of the Chinese national team. The former international thinks that a
local newspaper in Stuttgart, where Haan was sport-director of local side
Stuttgarter Kickers until early this week, is responsible for spreading the
story. He's very annoyed with the rumour and has made his feelings known in
no uncertain terms to the paper concerned.

| Bert
Konterman needs knee surgery |
22 Nov 2002
|
|
Glasgow Rangers' Bert Konterman
will undergo knee surgery next week to repair damage which has been causing
him problems for some time. It's the 3rd time the same knee has been injured
and it's unclear how long the 31 year-old former PEC and FC Zwolle, Cambuur
Leeuwarden, Willem II and Feyenoord will be out of action for. If it's
simply a meniscus injury it'll be a month but if other parts of the knee are
damaged it will mean a longer absence.

| Arie
Haan new national coach China |
21 Nov 2002
|
|
Arie Haan is leaving his job as
technical director with German side Stuttgarter Kickers after only 3 months
and looks set to become the new coach of the Chinese national team this
weekend. The offer to coach China was too tempting to ignore and his
contract with the southern German Regionalliga club has been dissolved as he
prepares to sign a deal with the Chinese FA this weekend. The job has been
vacant ever since Bora Milutinovic left after disappointing defeats by
Brazil, Turkey and Costa Rica during China's World Cup debut. Haan has
worked at an impressive list of clubs including Austria Wien, Omonia
Nicosia, PAOK Saloniki, Feyenoord, Anderlecht, Standard Luik VfB Stuttgart
and 1.FC Nürnberg.

| Hoogma
out for 5 weeks |
19 Nov 2002
|
|
Nico-Jan Hoogma has picked up a
head injury in Hamburger SV's 3-1 win against 1.FC Nürnberg last weekend.
The team captain has a fractured cheekbone and eye-socket which will keep
him out of action for the next 5 weeks. At first it seemed he was ok, but he
continued complaining of pain long after the match, at which point team
doctor Oliver Dierk decided a hospital examination was required where an
MRI-scan revealed the cause. In the meantime, Hamburger's Erik Meijer
is also still recovering from an achilles problem and he's been sent to
Basle for specialist treament.

| Rijsbergen
sacked at Al-Ittifaq |
17 Nov 2002
|
|
Thanks, as always, to Mohamed. S. Chbaro at http://www.middleeastfootball.com
for the story.
DAMMAM, SAUDI ARABIA, Nov. 16: Dutch manager Wim Rijsbergen has been sacked
at Al-Ittifaq, 24 hours after their 2-1 home defeat in league action against
Al-Qadissiyyah, their fourth consecutive defeat in the championship.
Rijsbergen, who surprisingly coached Al-Ittifaq to the Faysal Bin-Fahad Cup
in early October, becomes the fifth coach to be sacked in the kingdom, after
having signed a one-year contract with the unfashionable outfit during the
summer.
The former Brazilian national team manager Sebastiao Lazaroni, as well as
his compatriots Ze Mario and Paulo Campos (men who all have previous
experience of Saudi football), are reportedly being targeted by Al-Ittifaq
according to Saturday’s media reports here in Arabia. Other managers who've
already been sacked in theng stages of the league championship were
German Sylvester Takac at Al-Ittihad, Colombian Francisco Maturana at Al-Hilal, Brazilian Joel Fernandez at
Al-Raed, as well as 'homegrown' coach
Khaled Al-Qourouni at Al-Riyadh SC.

in the 71st after former Feyenoorder Jon Dahl Tomasson (34th) had put
Milan ahead and Diego Tristán (58th) had equalized with a distance blast. |

Dennis Bergkamp is planning to
conduct his own defence when he appears before the English FA's disciplinary

| Akratitos
sack Adelaar |
12 Nov 2002
|
|
Greek side Akratitos have sacked
former Utrecht trainer Frans Adelaar after a string of poor performances,
the latest 5-1 defeat by Proodeftiki on Sunday proving to be the final straw
for the club management. Akratitos are currently 14th out of 16 teams
competing in the Etniki Katigoria, the Greek Premier Division, but the news
of the sacking is still a surprise as only two weeks ago the Greeks were
expressing their confidence in Adelaar and their desire to continue working
with him when he was approached by Groningen to take over from Dwight
Lodeweges.

| Overmars
picks up new muscle injury |
11 Nov 2002
|
|
Marc Overmars just can't seem to stay out of
injury-trouble!! The Dutch striker has only recently returned from a 6
month-long absence due to injury but picked up a new injury in Barcelona's
match against Villarreal on Saturday. The Oranje international played his
first match in ages against Racing Santander in midweek and Louis van Gaal
was encouraged enough to field him again as a substitute for the last half
hour of Saturday's match. Unfortunately the winger left the pitch with a new
muscle injury and the team's medical staff have prescribed a few day's rest.
It means he'll be unavailable for the Champions League clash with
Galatasaray, remains doubtful for next weekend's clash with Deportivo La
Coruña and could also miss out on Holland's friendly against Germany on
November 20th.

Mols scores again for Rangers |
10 Nov 2002
|
| Michael
Mols is starting to get back into gear at Glasgow Rangers, scoring his 3rd
goal in as many matches yesterday in the 2-1 win against Hibernian in the
Scottish Premier League. His 11th minutes blast flew in off the underside
of the bar to give Rangers the lead, rounding off a dashing one-two by
Fernando Ricksen and Shota Arveladze. Former Ajax striker Arveladze
doubled the score in the 35th before Tom McManus got one back for Hibs on
the stroke of half-time. Rangers hang on to their pole position in the
table with rivals Celtic one point behind after their 0-2 win at Dundee
United. |

English FA are pressing charges against Arsenal striker Dennis Bergkamp
for his misdemeanour against Blackburn Rovers' Nils-Eric Johansson.

clearly showed bergkamp standing on Johansson while he was lying on the
ground. If found guilty he could face both a hefty fine as well as a
suspension and Bergkamp has 14 days to appeal. |

to extend Van Hoogdalem's deal |
07 Nov 2002
|
|
Schalke '04 have offered to
extend Marco van Hoogdalem's cointract for another two years. The
Gelsenkirchen wish to continue their relationship with the former RKC and
Roda JC defender whose current deal runs out next summer. The 30 year-old,
accompanied by his agent Ger Lagendijk, has been conducting talks with
Schalke manager Rudi Assauer and expects to have made up his mind by next
week. ''The offer clearly expresses their satisfaction with me but I just
need to think about a few details during the next few days and talk it over
with my wife." Van Hoogdalem was forced to swap his usual place in
midfield for one in the back-line last season but has since grow into one of
the best defenders in the Bundesliga. Although there are other clubs
interetsd in his services he wants to give Schalke first choice,
"They've been good to me over years and have a perfect right to make
the first approach."

| Saudi
fans/press unhappy with Van der Lem |
06 Nov 2002
|
Our
thanks once again to Mohamed S. Chbaro at http://www.middleeastfootball.com
for the story!
One month after Gerard van der Lem signed a four-year contract to coach
the national team, local football observers and fans in Saudi Arabia are
clearly unimpressed by their national team's new manager Gerard van der
Lem. “The career of Mr. Van der Lem isn’t up to the expectations of
football fanatics and pundits alike,” said one expert. Saudi Arabian
fans, who still have fond memories of successful spells at the helm by
such celebrated names as Brazilian managers Mario Zagalo and Carlos
Alberto Parreira, Dutchman (and currently Ajax's technical manager)
Leo Beenhakker plus the Czech Milan Macala, are clearly finding it hard to
understand their FA's decision to appoint a manager lacking the required
in-depth experience at national team level. “Coaching Ajax Amsterdam’s
age-limit level squads is all that he has under belt, and this is quite
disturbing for all the fans and media people,” lamented the editorial of
daily paper Al-Hayat on Tuesday. Of course that's not true as he was
head-trainer at Ere Divisie AZ Alkmaar before moving to look after Ajax 2
and was Louis van Gaal's assistant during Ajax's golden years in the 90s.
Van der Lem’s obviously
uphill task will be not only to restore the wilting Saudi ego, but also to
re-establish the team's international status, following a disastrous World
Cup campaign that saw the Gulf outfit crashing out from the first round
after being dealt two defeats (including an 8-0 annihilation at the hands
of beaten finalists Germany) and managing only a lone draw.
In the meantime, Van der Lem is expected to announce his 30-player list
for the upcoming Arab Cup due to be staged in neighbouring Kuwait next
month. Saudi Arabia are the title holders after winning the last edition
held in Qatar back in 1998, under the guidance of German Otto Pfister.

05 Nov 2002
|
|
Giovanni van Bronckhorst will
make his return for Arsenal tomorrow after an absence of more than 8 months
due to a knee injury picked up back in February during the match against
Fulham. The Dutch midfielder will play for the 'The Gunners' in their 3rd
round Worthington Cup match against Sunderland. "I'll be fielding a
different lineup than on Sunday against Fulham, including Robert Pires and
Giovanni van Bronckhorst," explained manager Arsène Wenger. Van
Bronckhorst travelled to the United States for surgery in March and played
his first match since on October 23rd for Arsenal's reserve team against
Ipswich Town.

Dutch international Jerrel
Hasselbaink has picked up a hip injury in Sunday's Premiership derby between
Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur and will be out of action for two weeks. The

niggling injuries and so far he's only scored three goals in 12

| Boskamp
sacked at Al-Wasl |
01 Nov 2002
|
Many
thanks to Mohamed S. Chbaro at http://www.middleeastfootball.com
for the story!!
One day after United Arab Emirate side Al-Wasl's 5-2 defeat at the hands
of newcomers Dubai FC, their Dutch manager Johan Boskamp has become the
first manager to be dismissed in the UAE league. “We need a change now,
a new manager and new ideas to get out of this early-season impasse,” a
club spokesman announced today. “We have to thank Mr. Boskamp for all
his efforts since he joined last season. But it’s time to move on,” he
added. Dubai's Al-Wasl was one of UAE’s best supported and most
successful sides of the 1990s but they have managed only one point
out of theirng three league matches this season, losing twice and
drawing 2-2 at home to the other top flight newcomers, Al-Dhafra. What
made the 5-2 defeat even worse for Al-Wasl, was the fact that Chilean
Cristian Montecinos, who was their top scorer last season with 14 goals in
22 league matches to his credit, hit a remarkable hat-trick against them
for his new club Dubai FC. Ironically enough, it was Boskamp himself who
asked the club to get rid of the sparkling Chilean striker. The Dutchman
signed a two-year deal with Al-Wasl at the start of the 2001/2002 league
season after leaving Belgium giants Anderlecht. |

volley for his 6th C-L goal in the 90th to give his team victory.

duty in a month's time. Arsenal's reserves won the macth against
Ipswich Town's reserves 2-0 with former Dutch international Marco van Basten
watching from the stands as part of his trainer's course. Van Bronckhorst
travelled to the United States in March for a knee operation which was

Nistelrooy misses C-L match |
21 Oct 2002
|

Ruud van Nistelrooy will miss
Manchester United's Champions League match against Greek side Olympiakos
Piraeus on Wednesday. The Dutch striker is still suffering from an
aggravated hamstring injury which led to him missing Oranje's EURO 2004
qualifier against Austria. He originally picked up the injury in the C-L
match against Bayer Leverkusen on September 24th but manager Alex Ferguson
decided to risk fielding him in two following matches which has aggravated
the injury. Ferguson has now decided not to repeat that mistake and is keen
to see Van Nistelrooy absolutely 100% fit again before he plays another
match.

Hintum heading for Hannover departure |
18 Oct 2002

|
Dutch defender Marc van Hintum is
heading for the exit at Bundesliga side Hannover 96 at the end of this
season. The club want to cut back their squad from 29 to 23 players and Van
Himtum is one of the 'lucky' select group of six layers being lined up for
departure. His one-year deal even contains a clause allowing them to
terminate his contract if he doesn't play at least 25 matches of 45 matches
and the 35 year-old has only managed that in two matches so far.

nothing broken or torn but I'm still in a lot of pain". The former PSV

picked up an injury in the UEFA Cup back in 1995, while still playing for
Ajax . Things are looking a lot better now that he's feeling 100% fit and
ready for action - which means a match for Barcelona's reserve team against
a Segunda División club.

Nistelrooy scores spot-shot for United |
08 Oct 2002
|
|
Manchester United have managed to increase the
distance between them and Everton in the Premiership table after a
flattering 3-0 win at Old Trafford last night. It took till the 86th minute
before Paul Scholes'ng goal hit the back of the net but it immediately
ended the resistance shown by their opponents who'd threatened to cause an
upset. In particular the short-performance of 16 year-old super-sub Wayne
Rooney had caused United's defence all kinds of problems. Ruud van
Nistelrooy, who'd already missed several great goal-scoring chances, put
away a spot-shot in the 90th and Scholes added his 2nd in injury-time for
the 3-0. United rise to equal 3rd position on 17 points from 9 games.

| Hasselbaink
to get 100th Premiership goal? |
04 Oct 2002
|
|
Jerrel Hasselbaink could score
his 100th Premiership goal this coming Sunday against Liverpool at Anfield
Road. The Dutch international has put away 99 so far for his old club Leeds
United and his current club Chelsea. He's the most productive Dutch player
ever to grace the pitches of England, one goal ahead of Dennis Bergkamp,
who's scored 98 since arriving at Arsenal in 1995 and well ahead (for the
time being) of Ruud van Nistelrooy, who put away 43 last season and is
already in 4th place in this illustrious list of Dutch top goal-getters.

| Stam
wants to leave Lazio |
03 Oct 2002
|
|
Jaap Stam has had enough of Lazio
Roma and has started legal proceedings to enable him to look for a new club.
The Dutch central defender has not received any wages, and neither have his
colleagues, for the last 4 months. "These people are not
trustworthy,"said the Dutch international's agent Henk van Ginkel.
'Jaap has played with top clubs in Holland and England but this is the first
time he's been confronted with this kind of problem. Lazio act as if they
are a top club, but they are clearly not!" In order to obtain the wages
owed Stam his agent has sent all the relevant papers to a special committee
who will be studying the case. "It normally takes about two
months to process these cases and we expect that Jaap will be transfer-free
this winter." Lazio have serious financial problems and had to sell top
players Alessandro Nesta and Hernan Crespo in order to raise enough cash to
get their licence for this season so there seems little chance of them being
able to pay Stam. Incidentally, Manchester United are also still waiting to
receive money for the sale of Stam to Lazio!

| Van
Nistelrooy doubtful for United-Piraeus |
01 Oct 2002
|
|
It's increasingly unlikely that Ruud van Nistelrooy
will play for Manchester United tomorrow when they face Greek side Olympiakos
Piraeus in the Champions League. "We took a risk using him as a substitute
in Saturday's Premiership match against Charlton and it would be irresponsible
to risk further aggravation of his hamstring strain by fielding him for this
match," said manager Alex Ferguson.

| Bergkamp
denies retirement story |
30 Sep 2002
|
|
Dennis Bergkamp has been denying a story
run by English Sunday newspaper 'News of the World' claiming that the Dutch
striker was planning to hang up his boots when his current contract with
Arsenal runs out at the end of this season. The former Dutch international
called the story ridiculous and explained that the same paper had printed a
story the week before claiming that he hated manager Arsène Wenger!
Bergkamp missed the weekend's match against Leeds United after picking up an
injury in the Champions League match against PSV and will be out for 3
weeks. Even though his deal does run out at the end of this season, it
doesn't mean in anyway that he's going to stop playing, said Bergkamp's
agent Karel Jansen of Sport Promotion. "A decision has yet to be made."
According to the 'News of the World' story Bergkamp is quoted as saying:
"I can smell the end of my career. My family and I are happy in England
but when my contract runs out we want to return to Holland. Even though
it's 10 years since I left Holland, it remains my homeland. I've got to be
realistic, at 33 years of age I'm not getting any faster, although I think
I'm actually improving all the time at the moment. I want to stop with the
best club in my career and that's Arsenal. I'm a top player and I want to
end with a top club."

Nistelrooy gets match-winner |
28 Sep 2002
|
|
Ruud van Nistelrooy scored the match-winner for
Manchester United this afternoon, making his appearance in the match at and
against Charlton Athletic at the Valley. Claus Jensend the score
for Charlton in the 43rd and Paul Scholes equalized for the 'Red Devils' and
put the 1-1 on the board. After the break the Dutch striker came on for
Diego Forlan and, in a powerful move, set up Ryan Giggs with the 2-1 in the
83rd, putting away the 3-1 in the 90th. It was his first Premiership goal of
the season. United go up to 4th place on 6 points but still 8 behind those
'Untouchables' Arsenal who destroyed Leeds United at Elland Road.

| Hasselbaink
scores, Chelsea lose |
28 Sep 2002
|
|
Chelsea have suffered their first Premiership
defeat of the season with a 2-3 at home to West Ham United, coincidentally
'The Hammers' first win of the season! Jerrel Hasselbaink will at least be
glad to see a ball hit the back of the net again after the Dutch
international striker put away a spot-shot for Chelsea'sr in the 21st.
It was his first Premiership goal since the one scored against Everton back
on April 6th. Jermaine Defoe equalized for the visitors in the 40th, Paolo
Di Canio putting them ahead in the 48th before Gianfranco Zola drew
Chelsea level in the 74th only for Di Canio to clinch the match in the 84th.

goals.

| Van
Nistelrooy plays against Charlton |
27 Sep 2002
|
| Ruud
van Nistelrooy's injury has turned out to be not as serious as thought and
it will be business as usual for the Dutch striker tomorrow against
Charlton Athletic. The day after he scored two goals in the Champions
League match against Bayer Leverkusen the United medical team was somber
about his injury and he looked certain to miss at least tomorrow's match.
Assistant-trainer Carlos Queiroz, happy to be able to give the thumbs up
for him to play against Chalrton, was glad that 'Van the Man' had found
the back of the net again and had always believed he'd get back in the
groove. |

his no.1 position, Patrick Kluivert has climbed into the no.2 spot while Ruud
van Nistelrooy and Filippo Inzaghi were also on target. Raúl has scored 36
goals and has an enormous 11 goal lead over his closest rivals: Mario Jardel,
Alessandro Del Piero and Patrick Kluivert. Two players making a rapid move up
the list are Filippo Inzaghi and Ruud van Nistelrooy. With 5 goals in two
matches 'Pippo' has climbed into 5th place on a total of 22 goals while 'Van the

criticises Ronald de Boer |
26 Sep 2002

|
Dick Advocaat, who's about to leave his job as
Glasgow Rangers' technical director, has been publicly criticising Ronald de
Boer who joined the Scottish club in 2000. De The Oranje boss thinks that De
Boer is not doing his best and had warned him some time ago that if he
failed to give his best he could expect some flak! "Ronald has the
ability and quality to be one of the best players in Rangers'history but has
failed to realise that potential." De Boer has, however, been on target
so far this season with 5 goals in 7 matches! In the meantime another
row is brewing after De Boer's father-in-law agent criticised Advocaat for
dropping Ronald from the Oranje squad for Holland's last two matches!

Ruud van Nistelrooy has picked up a hamstring injury
during last night's Champions League match against Bayer Leverkusen. The

has said that the 26 year-old is unlikely to play in this Saturday's Premiership
match against Charlton Athletic.

in 21 months. The Stamford Bridge side will be facing Fulham tonight in a London
derby and Bogarde will most likely start on the bench. The
31 year-old former Dutch international revealed earlier this month how he'd
cleared the air with trainer Claudio Ranieri, while the Italian
claimed that he wanted to welcome back a fully-fit Bogarde, whose last match was
on Boxing Day 2000 when Chelsea drew with Ipswich Town (2-2). As they
kick-off tonight Chelsea will already have 3 Dutch players in the starting
lineup - Boudewijn Zenden, Jerrel Hasselbaink and Mario Melchiot while Fulham
will have Edwin van der Sar in goal.

| Arsenal
bring Bergkamp to Eindhoven |
23 Sep 2002
|
|
Arsenal will be at full strength when they arrive in
Eindhoven for Wednesday's Champions League clash with PSV. Dennis Bergkamp,
who's mostly left at home for European away matches, will also be with the
squad. Normally he stays at home due to his avertion for flying and has missed
15 of 'The Gunners' last 19 matches in Europe. All their current C-L opponents
are within driving distance and Bergkamp
made clear last week that he was available to play. Considering he's
in top-form and such an influential player for the team to have at their
disposal it was difficult for manager Arsène Wenger to leave him at home.
Whether or not he'll actually play is something else as Wenger is keen to point
out that many players in the lineup are capable of swinging a match in Arsenal's
favour, as Kanu proved against Bolton in the weekend's Premiership against
Bolton Wanderers when the Nigerian former Ajax striker scored the winning
goal.

| Van
Bronckhorst close to return |
22 Sep 2002
|
|
Giovanni van Bronckhorst will resume training with
the Arsenal squad next week after a long absence through injury - the
midfielder tore a tendon in his knee last February. It's good news
for manager Arsène Wenger who can also look forward, as do we all, to the
return of Robert Pires who's returning from his knee injury. It gives Wenger an
abundance of choice for the left-midfield position where he can now field either
Freddie Ljungberg, Giovanni van Bronckhorst or Robert Pires.

22 Sep 2002
|
|
Former Ajax, Padova, Perugia and Vitesse player
Michel Kreek will have to content himself with watching his team play for
the time being after an old achilles problem recurred which will keep him
out of action for at least the next 6 weeks. The 31 year-old AEK Athene
defender, who joined the Greek side in June,
misses the C-L matches against Real Madrid, AS Roma and RC Genk.

finally netted for the 2-0. Luis Enruiqe made the final score 2-0 two

Roy Makaay has personally ended Bayern München's
run of 29 Champions League games without defeat, scoring a hattrick in
Deportivo La Coruña's 2-3 away win in Germany. The Dutch
international struck early, cutting through the Bayern defence to slide Juan
Carlos Valerón's pass into the back of the net and the striker took his
tally to two on the stroke of half-time. Hasan Salihamidzic (57th) and Élber
(64th) drew Bayern level but Makaay repeated hisng goal of the match
with a brilliant run and an equally perfect pass from Valerón for the 2-3
in the 77th.

| Bergkamp
to travel to C-L away matches? |
19 Sep 2002
|
|
Arsène Wenger is undecided whether or not Dennis
Bergkamp will be travelling as part of the squad for Arsenal's Champions
League away leg matches. It's well known that 'Dennis the Menace' is not
keen on flying but all 'The Gunners' opponents are within easy reach of the
Dutch striker without having to go anywhere near an airplane. Wenger had
originally decided to leave Bergkamp at home for the away matches but the
temptation to take the former international is getting harder to resist.
He's still showing scintillating form in the Premiership and he
scored the importantng goal in Tuesday's C-L match against Borussia
Dortmund at Highbury. Bergkamp is ready and willing to travel and certainly
knows the way to Eindhoven (next week's match is against PSV). Arsenal is in
top-form and must be one of the absolute favourites to win the trophy - for
Bergkamp it's probably the best chance he'll ever get to win a Champions
League winners medal.

| Bergkamp
scores C-L goal for Arsenal |
18 Sep 2002
|
|
Arsenal were totally in control of their home leg
Champions League clash with Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund last
night. The Highbury team created mutiple goal-scoring opportunities for
Thierry Henry and Sylvain Wiltord but Borussia keeper Jens Lehmann managed
to deal well with most of them. Dennis Bergkamp was the 'invisible man'
during the first 60 minutes but, where his colleagues had failed earlier in
the match, the Dutch striker was on-target when it mattered in the 62nd,
firing home from 16 metres via defender Christoph Metzelder's leg, for the
1-0. A lightning-fast counter delivered the 2nd goal close to time, Fredik
Ljungberg putting it away to take The Gunners to the top of their group.

| Disappointed
Van Nistelrooy not in panic |
17 Sep 2002
|
|
Ruud van Nistelrooy is refusing to panic
just yet in response to his goalless start to the season. After putting away
36 Premiership goals last term, and
picking up prestigious awards for doing so, he's so far only managed to
score once in 5 games! "There's no reason to panic yet," he told
local newspaper the 'Manchester Evening', "these things happen to very
striker, one minute you're putting away ball after ball and the next minute
nothing works! I'm doing my best every time I play to change things and one
of theses days it will all fall back into place. Against Leeds I even
created two chances out of nowhere, something I had problems with last
season." He's not the only one having problems scoring for the Old
Trafford side - noone in the team has scored a real-goal since Ryan Giggs in
the 1-1 away draw at Sunderland (1-1) on August 31st. In the meantime
Van-the-Man's contribution has been limited to a spot-shot in the 1-0 home
win against Middlesbrough.

| Bogarde
back in favour at Chelsea |
13 Sep 2002
|
|
Former Dutch international Winston Bogarde has been
brought back in from the cold at Chelsea by manager Claudio Ranieri and been
told he's got a chance of seeing some match-action again. The defender joined
the South-London club two seasons ago from Barcelona where he'd been sidetracked
and had hoped to kickstart his career. Unfortunately, after playing only a few
matches, he picked up a severe knee injury that kept him out of action for a
considerable time after which Rainieri chose not to favour him with a chance to
get back into the groove. As
part of their attempts to cut costs at the debt ridden club Chelsea recently
tried to get rid of him and his very expensive contract. Speaking on
his own website at Icons.com he said, 'I'm happy to get this new
opportunity to prove myself and my future at Stamford Bridge looks better than
it has done in the last two years. I've had a fruitfull discussion with Rainieri
and we've agreed to start afresh and see where it gets us. The door is at leastonce again to getting back my place in the 1st team and his words have
given me a lot of confidence. I've been back in daily training with the squad
during the last two weeks and it's gone well, so I'm hoping for a sign any time
now." Last week Bogarde played a game for the club's reserve team and if
that's what it takes to earn himself a place in the 1st team he's prepared to do
so again.

Gaal's Barça out of Spanish Cup! |
12 Sep 2002
|
|
Louis van Gaal will have a difficult job explaining
to the Spanish press why the superstars of Barcelona were knocked out of the
Copa del Rey by 3rd division Novelda CF last night. Novelda's local-hero
Madrigal scored a hattrick to give Van Gaal his first real headache while
echoing the equally embarassing defeat by Figueras last season which saw Barça's
early cup exit. Pre-match warnings of a possible repetition were countered by
Van Gaal's claim that his team would reach the next round and it seemed indeed
as if things were going his way when Geovanni put Barcelona ahead in the 1st
half. Unfortunately, Madrigal struck twice after the break to put Novelda ahead
and, despite Barça drawing level with a goal by Juan Riquelme, the 26 year-old
striker scored his 3rd goal 12 minutes before time to give the underdogs the
win, Van Gaal a night to forget and Madrigal one to remember for a long, long
time.

Reuser to have surgery |
10 Sep 2002
|
|
Ipswich's Martijn Reuser will be going into
hospital this week for some keyhole surgery to establish the extent of the
damage to his knee. The injury has hampered his pre-season preparations and
led to him calling off a possible loan spell with Charlton Athletic. He
played his first match of the season for the Tractor Boys in their UEFA Cup
clash last Thursday against Avenir Bergent which they won 8-1. He took
another knock to the knee during the match which is why the operation is
necessary and it could be 4 to 6 weeks before he returns for duty.

AS Roma are still desperate to sign Dutch
international Edgar Davids and trainer Fabio Capello has managed to persuade
chairman Franco Sensi to increase the offer the club made to Juventus
earlier this summer. The bid now stands at €13 million Euros and Roma are
also willing to throw in a few players as well in a last ditch attempt to
persuade the Turin club to let the midfielder go! Capello sees Davids as the
missing-link he still needs to complete his midfield lineup.

03 Sep 2002
|
|
In his 50th Premiership match Ruud van Nistelrooy scored his first goal of the
new Premiership season with a 1st half spot-shot in the 28th minute against
Middlesbrough tonight. It turned out to be the only goal of the match and
the narrow 1-0 victory takes United into 2nd place in the tabel behind
surprising leaders Tottenham Hotspur. 'Van the Man' was replaced by Solskjær in the 71st minute after
taking a knock to his left-knee which hopefully will not prevent him
playing/affect his
performance this coming Saturday against Belarus in Oranje's EURO 2004
qualifier.

Former Sparta and NEC player Maikel Renfurm will be
continuing his footballing career in Denmark after signing a deal for 4 months
with Herfølge BK, who currently play in the Danish 2nd Division. Renfurm had
been told he could leave 2nd Division Bundesliga side LR Ahlen, where he played
last season, and will be glad to have found a new club after a
recent, but unsuccessful, trial at RBC Roosendaal. He'll be joining
fellow Dutchman Richard Sneekes, who signed a deal with the ambitious club
earlier this week. The former Ajax, Volendam and Fortuna Sittard player turned
out for English 3rd Division side Hull City last season.

01 Sep 2002
|
|
Dunfermline Athletic's Dutch keeper Marco Ruitenbeek
was in top form today, though he couldn't prevent Glasgow Rangers from putting 6
goals past him. If it hadn't been for his goal-stopping powers the Scottish
Premier Division side would have suffered an even more embarassing defeat.
Claudio Caniggia (3), Mikel Arteta, Barry Ferguson and Dutch defender Fernando
Ricksen scored the goals which put Rangers in 2nd place on 13 points, just
behind rivals Celtic who won 2-0 against Livingston.

nominated in two categories, namely that of 'Most Valuable Team Player'
and 'Best Striker', but lost out to Frenchman Zinedine Zidane in the
former and the Spaniard Raúl in the latter. Real Madrid were the most
veted team in last night's awards with, apart from the aforementioned

Reuser on loan to Charlton? |
29 Aug 2002
|
|
Martijn Reuser looks set to sign a loan-deal
with Charlton Athletic. The Dutch midfielder is under contract
to Ipswich Town who were relegated to the First Division at the end of last
season. Manager Alan Curbishley wanted to add the former Ajax player to
his squad after the signing of Japanese international Alex fell through due
to the lack of a work-permit. From Ipswich's point of view, their financial
problems could make it a sufficiently interesting proposition for manager George
Burley to get Reuser off the wage-bill for a while. A last minute decision
will have to wait till tomorrow because Reuser is expected to lineup tonight as
Ipswich play their UEFA Cup match against Avenir Beggen.

After his recent mediocre performance for Oranje in
their friendly against Norway, defender Michael Reiziger looks also to be out of
favour at Barcelona where former Ajax and Oranje coach Louis van Gaal has left
him out of the squad who will face Legia Warschau tonight in the 2nd leg
Champions League qualifier. Reiziger played only sporadically for Barça last
season but, due to the abence of wing-defenders in the Dutch national team has
managed to keep his place in the Oranje squad.

Dutchman Robert Molenaar. The 31 year-old Dutch defender is currently
transfer-free after failing to get an extension on his deal with Sheffield
United ('The Blades') and has now signed a contract for one year with 'The
Bantams'. Uhlenbeek began the season as an amateur with the First Division club
but was quickly offered a deal after a series of fine performances in theng 5 matches. He's previously played for Ajax, Cambuur Leeuwarden, TOP Oss,
Ipswich Town, Fulham, Sheffield United and was
on loan for the latter part of last season to Walsall.

Nistelrooy put away a spot-shot in the 76th for his 2nd of the evening, leaving
Ole Gunnar Solskjær to take the final score to 5-0 in the 84th minute. The

| Arsenal
to get Bergkamp fit a.s.a.p. |
23 Aug 2002
|
Arsenal
striker and former Dutch international Dennis Bergkamp looks certain to miss
the 2nd match of the Premiership season after picking up a calf injury. He
had to leave the pitch after only half an hour's play in theng match
of the season against Birmingham and has been getting special treatment to
see if he'll be able to play at all and has at best a 60%chance of being fit
enough to be fielded.
It's a bit of a blow for coach Arsène Wenger who's also missing Sylvain
Wiltord (injured) and Gilberto Silva (who's still too tired after his
exertions for Brazil in their 0-1 defeat at the hands of Paraguay last
Monday)for the away game at West Ham United. Another Dutchman who is stillon
the sick-list at Highbury Park is Giovanni van Bronckhorst who's waiting to
make his return, as are the remaining walking-wounded - Robert Pires,
Fredrik Ljungberg and Nwankwo Kanu. |

hot-shots on form in Austria |

Two
Dutch forwards are 'making waves' in the Austrian regional league (Regionalliga),
equivalent to that country's 3rd division. Samuel Koejoe (9 goals in 5
matches for SPG Wattens Wacker) and Erik Regtop (6 goals in 5 matches for
SC Altach) are engaged with their clubs in the battle for promotion to the
Austrian 2nd Bundesliga. SPG Wattens Wacker is the new
identity of the club formerly known as FC Tirol Innsbruck. The current
Austrian champions got themselves into such a financial mess that they
failed to obtain a professional licenece for this season and were
relegated to the Regionalliga. Koejoe missed out on gaining promotion to
the Bundesliga, together with his former club Austria Lustenau, on the
very last
day of last season. He bought off his contract and went to work for the
ambitious SPG Wattens Wacker instead. |

with Barnsley and Turkish top club Galatasaray. Wijnhard ended last season with Preston North End, where
he started in March, after a 3 year-spell with Huddersfield Town. His time
with the Terriers was overshadowed by a terrible car crash which almost cost
him his arm and kept him out of action for a whole season.

| Hasselbaink
move to Barcelona ? |
22 Aug 2002
|
Chelsea and Oranje striker Jerrell Hasselbaink is
being linked with a move to Louis van Gaal's Barcelona again. At the time of
Van Gaal's installment at Camp Nou it was rumoured that the former Ajax and
Oranje boss wanted to bring Hasselbaink to Spain but nothing concrete took
place. The situation has changed now that Chelsea are desperate to sell a
few of their expensive players in order to solve some of their massive debt
problems. The striker has a good reputation in Spain due to his goal-scoring
record when he played for Atletico Madrid and is not unwilling to make the
move. His agent Humphrey Nijman told the BBC,"Of course any player
would be interested in
joining a club of Barcelona's stature! It's now up to them to make an
official approach for Jerrell." The only obstacle could be the price
that 'The Blues' will be asking for - probably in the region of 12 million
Euros which, even though it's considerably less than the striker's original
market-value of 20 million, is probably still too much for Barcelona to
afford.

| Barcelona
signed Van Gaal to save money! |
21 Aug 2002
|
|
One of Spain's top sports-papers, 'As', has revealed that the main reason
for Barcelona to bring back Louis van Gaal was to save money!! It seems that
when the former Oranje coach left the club two years ago he still had two
years to run on his existing contract which means they've been paying him
money ever since! By signing a new deal with the former Ajax-boss before the
old deal runs out on July 1st 2003 they avoid having to pay him an extra
'loyalty' bonus of € 2 million Euros!!! It seems remarkable to this
writer that the Catalan club never had an escape clause built in to the
original deal allowing them to avoid just this eventuality when Van Gaaal
resigned!!?? Not only that it makes a mockery of the term 'loyalty' - see
one of our Speakers Corner editorials on this very subject!!

18 Aug 2002

|
The Italian media have been publishing
many reports recently linking Lazio Roma's Dutch defender Jaap Stam with a
move to another club. In his column for Dutch daily newspaper 'De Telegraaf'
the former PSV and Manchester United player has put an end to all the
speculation by saying that he's staying where he is and that the club have
no intention of letting him go. Juventus, Inter Milan, Leeds United, Arsenal
and Newcastle United have all been named as potential buyers but club
chairman Sergio Cragnotti told Stam that he never considered selling him.
The club have serious financial problems and this attracted some serious
offers to buy the Dutch international for a 'bargain basement' price. 'I'm
glad that Lazio want to keep me because, although I've no objection to
moving to another Italian club, a return to the English Premiership is out
of the question. Besides which my departure would seriously weaken the squad
while simultaneously strengthening the position of our rivals."

| Bergkamp
to end his days with Arsenal |
16 Aug 2002
|
|
Anyone still hoping to see Dennis Bergkamp in action
again at a Dutch club can more or less forget all about that dream after the
Arsenal striker and former Oranje international stated that he's planning to end
his career with the 'The Gunners'. There's been plenty of speculation during the
last few years that 'Dennis the Menace' might be set to return to one of his
former clubs and last year Ajax were named as a possible destination for him. It
looks increasingly unlikely, however, that the 33 year-old will take a chance on
a new challenge at a new club. He's been with Arsenal since 1995 and sees no
reason to move to another country or return to Holland at the moment, especially
after the scintillating form he showed last season. When exactly he'll hang up
his boots is anybody's guess - his current deal at Highbury runs out at the end
of the season and what his next move will be depends on how well he does in
2002/2003.

Dutch forward Mark de Vries can't put a foot (or a
boot) wrong with the fans at his Scottish club Heart of Midlothian after the
former Dordrecht striker played the leading role in his team's 5-1 win yesterday
against Hibernian in the Edinburgh derby. The 26 year-old plagued the 'Hibs'
defence during his debut in front of the home fans. He distracted the Pars'
defence to let Andy Kirk lob in ther over keeper Tony Caig's head and went
on to control the match with teammate Jean-Louis Valois. The Frenchman served De
Vries up with a ball to put away for the 2-0 in the 40th, taking it on his chest
and blasting it in from 15 metres. He was there again after the break to put
away a rebound from a Valois-shot and in injury-time put away another two, one
with his foot and one with his head.

Arsenal have won the Community Shield, the English
SuperCup, thanks to a goal by new signing Gilberto Silva. The match was nothing
to write home about and it was the footballing-brain of Dutch striker Dennis
Bergkamp that created most of The Gunners goal-scoring opportunities. In theng half he had two great chances in the 20th minute to decide the match but
former Feyenoord goalie Jerzy Dudek stopped his first shot and then another from
the rebound. In the 69th minute, on the edge of being offside, he collected a
pass which he slipped back to Gilberto to convert. Arsenal hung on till the
final whistle despite Liverpool's passionate attempts to get back into the
match.

The eternal battle between Scottish arch-rivals
Glasgow Rangers and Glasgow Celtic for the 'north-of-the-border' title is
once more under way as the teams played their 2nd match of the new season
yesterday. Dutch international Ronald de Boer fired theng shot for
Rangers in yesterday's 3-0 win against Dundee. Former Ajax striker Shota
Arveladze and the Dane Lovenkrands followed his example with 2nd half goals.
It was a small but necessary piece of revenge for the disappointing 1-1 draw
in theirng match of the season last weekend against lowly Kilmarnock.
Fellow Dutchmen Arthur Numan (who's just announced the end of his
international career) and Fernando Ricksen were also in the starting lineup
but Bert Konterman had to content himself with a seat on the bench.

10 Aug 2002
|
|
Clyde Wijnhard is currently on trial with top Turkish
club Galatasaray. The
28 year-old striker has just had a trial with English side Barnsley
who offered him a deal but, for the time being, he's turned it down in order to
try his luck with Galatasaray before making his mind up about the opportunity
with the Yorkshire club. Barnsley were relegated to the English Second Division
and the chance to play for the Turkish giants is obviously one not to be missed!
Wijnhard finished last season at another Northern England club, Lancashire based
Preston North End, and previously turned out for Ajax, Groningen, RKC Waalwijk,
Willem II, Leeds United and Huddersfield Town.

| Mechelen
sack Aad de Mos |
09 Aug 2002
|
|
The Dutch trainer Aad de Mos has been sacked by
Belgian club KV Mechelen from his post as technical director. He'd lost the
backing of chairman Willy van den Wijngaert who also thought his generous salary
too much of a financial burden for the club. Van den Wijngaert and De Mos had
also clashed when manager Geert Lemyte, a personal friend of the former Ajax and
PSV trainer, was blamed for the club's financial crisis, sacked and Luc Verheyen
was brought in. In November 2000 De Mos rejoined the club he'd succesfully
coached in the 1980s but yesterday was unaware of his sacking! He'll undoubtedly
wake up with a headache, if he hasn't already developed one as a result of the
friction of recent months.

Dutch international Patrick Kluivert continues the
scintillating form he displayed during the recent Amsterdam Tournament. In
Barcelona's friendly against Newcastle United he showed a marvellous piece of
ball control in a tight space between two defenders, picking up an impressive
long-ball from Cocu to shoot coolly past goalie Shay Given for the 1-0 in the
28th minute. Saviola took care of the 2-0 from a Mendieta pass and Luis
Enrique made the final score 3-0.

Manchester United midfielder in action during a friendly between his current
employer Alavés and Portsmouth at the weekend. Jordi is quoted as saying that
he loves the English game, that the Premiership is without a doubt the most
exciting league in the world and that he'd be crazy not to consider returning!!

05 Aug 2002

|
Former Feyenoorder Bernard Schuiteman is going to
continue his career with Cypriot side Apollon Limassol after the defender became
transfer-free at his old club SpVgg Unterhaching. He joined that club in January
from FSV Mainz but Unterhaching have now been relegated from the 2nd division of
the Bundesliga. Schuiteman, who's also previously played for Bayer Leverkusen,
Utrecht and Feyenoord, left Rotterdam for Austrian side Grazer AK in 2000 but
only played 7 matches before moving to Mainz in December 2000.

05 Aug 2002
|
|
Borussia Mönchengladbach will have to
miss their Dutch striker Arie van Lent for the coming 6 months after he
picked up a serious knee injury during Saturdays friendly against Standard
Luik. Van Lent will be going into hospital for an operation and will be out
of action till 2003. He'd just put his team ahead when he twisted the knee
which yesterday turned out to be severely damaged. The 31 year-old has been
invaluable to the German side, his heading ability and accurate shooting
helping them to regain promotion to the Bundesliga in the summer of 2001.
Last season he was the club's topscorer with 12 goals.

who's under contract at the ArenA till 2005, for one year. Knopper was voted
'Talent of the Year' in 1998 by the Ajax supporters but a series of injuries
have side-lined him. He made his debut on November 1997 in the 0-5 away win
against Sparta and has so far played a total of 66 matches, scoring 19
goals, in the Ajax shirt. Last
season he had an unsuccessful trial with English Premiership side Sunderland.

full of compliments for Postma |
01 Aug 2002
|
|
Aston Villa coach Graham Taylor is well-pleased
with the first official performance of newly signed Dutch goalie Stefan
Postma. The former De Graafschap keeper was showered with compliments after
the 1-1 Intertoto draw against French side Lille (1-1) where Postma
substituted for the injured Peter Enckelman. "He's really good
with the ball at his feet and has an imposing presence", said Taylor,
"It's great that he's been able to get his first taste of Villa
football now rather than in the Premiership season because he
still has to get used to the speed of the ball here and the power of the
shots he'll have to deal with"!

gets red card after 4 minutes! |
01 Aug 2002
|
|
Edgar Davids is back in action and living up to his
current reputation as the pitbull of Dutch
football by collecting a red card after only 4 minutes of a friendly during the
recent mini-tournament involving Juve, AC Milan and Inter Milan. In the match
against Inter he kicked-off with a foul against Gennaro Gattuso before clashing
with Cosmin Contra. Both players were sent off and continued their 'dispute' on
the way to the dressing-rooms. Inter won the tournament of 45 minute matches by
beating an AC Milan lineup, that included Dutch international Clarence Seedorf
and former-Feyenoorder Jon Dahl Tomasson, 2-0.

| Boateng
to sign for Middlesborough |
30 July 2002
|
|
George Boateng is set to
move from Aston Villa to Middlesbrough after the two clubs agreed a price of
€8 million Euros for the Dutch midfielder. All that remains is for Boateng
himself to agree his personal terms for the deal to go through. The
27 year-old wanted badly to leave Villa after going on the transfer-list at the
end of last season.
Middlesbrough coach Steve McLaren sees him as the ideal replacement for the
departed Paul Ince. Boateng is still waiting to hear the English FA's verdict on
an incident at the end of the season during the match against Leicester City
when he chucked his boot into the crowd after a conflict with Paul Dickov.

| Wim
Rijsbergen new coach Al-Ittifaq |
29 July 2002
|
|
It's been announced today in Dammam (east) that
1974 Dutch World Cup star Wim Rijsbergen has been appointed as the manager
of Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittifaq. The club was one of the most successful
Saudi sides in the 1970s, but made a poor start to last season’s league
campaign, before getting back into their stride to finish in a surprising
6th place in the table with 26 points from 22 matches.
Forty-nine-year-old Rijsbergen, who recently turned down an offer to coach Zwolle after the resignation of Paul Krabbe before opting to move
Saudi Arabia, starred for Holland in the 1974 World Cup finals before Oranje
were beaten 2-1 by hosts West Germany. The Dutchman, a complete stranger to
the game in Arabia, guided Feyenoord Rotterdam to the 1973 league
championship title, and then went on to win the UEFA trophy with them a year later. He will
be the only Dutchman to coach a Saudi club in the upcoming new season, with
the main aim to maintain Al-Ittifaq's status in the top flight. Club sources
refused to reveal the one-year contract price tag, reportedly close to €450,000
according to local media in Saudi Arabia. (Our thanks to Mohamed S. CHBARO

| Numan
wants to extend stay with Rangers |
27 July 2002
|
|
Arthur Numan wants to extend his stay with
Glasgow Rangers. The left-back's contract at Ibrox Park runs out at the
end of the coming season and the Dutch international (45 caps) wants to
start negotiations for a new deal at the beginning of next year. The 32
year-old moved from PSV to Rangers after the 1998 World Cup but a series
of injuries meant that the former Haarlem and Twente player didn't see
much action until last season when a fitter Numan played more than 40
matches. Oranje coach Dick Advocaat, who is also Rangers' technical
director, then chose to select him for the friendlies against Spain and
the United States. If Numan fails to obtain a new deal in Glasgow he looks
set to make a move to the US and continue his career with some Major
League soccer.

Amstedammer Michel Kuipers has extended his

important role in their promotion to the First Division. The 28 year-old
former DWS player has also previously played for Chester City and Bristol
Rovers. Kuipers earned himself a place in the starting lineup with the
'Seagulls' after a difficult start in 2000 but became a valuable asset to
the team, being voted into 3rd place in the club's player of the year
award in the 2000/2001 season.

| Wijnhard
on trial with Barnsley |
26 July 2002
|
|
Clyde Wijnhard is returning to England for a
trial with Barnsley. The 28 year-old forward is continuing in his search
for a new employer after turning down an earlier offer from Preston North
End to extend his contract there. He's been back in Holland and keeping
fit with Eerste Divisie outfit Haarlem these last couple of weeks but is
now heading back across the channel. He'll run into fellow Dutchman Dean
Gorré at Barnsley, who were relegated to the Second Division last season,
and it was his former Huddersfield Town teammate's advice to pay Barnsley
a visit. Wijnhard, who previously turned out for Ajax, Groningen, RKC
Waalwijk, Willem II and Leeds United, broke his arm back in September 2001
as a result of a car-crash. A series of operations have failed to relieve
him of the problem and the Paramaribo-born player has only played a
handfull of matches since.

Dick van Burik will miss the start of the
new Bundesliga season with Hertha BSC after the Dutch defender picked
up a torn calf-muscle which is going to keep him out of action for
longer than originally expected - it now looks like being 4 - 6 weeks
before he's ready to return for duty. For his new coach, former
Schalke 04 trainer Huub Stevens, the news is a bit of a blow as he's
short in the defence department and will be hoping that Marko Rehmer,
who's also out with a knee injury, will be available in time
for the start of the season on August 10th.

20 July 2002

|
Ruud van Nistelrooy is clearly ready for the
new season after leaving his calling-card by putting away a hattrick in
Manchester United's first pre-season friendly, a 5-0 win against Irish
Premier Division side Shelbourne in Dublin. The "Red Devils"
Dutch striker, voted Premiership "Player of the Year" last
season, showed he's as sharp as ever,ng the score in the 17th minute
from a Roy Keane pass. Only three minutes later he found the back of the
net with his 2nd, Diego Forlan made it 3-0 a minute later, Dwight Yorke
put away the 4-0 in the 60th mnute and Van Nistelrooy completed his
hattrick in the 62nd.

17 July 2002
|
|
Frans Adelaar is going to do his utmost to
bring Michael Mols to his new club, Greek side Akratitos. The former
Utrecht trainer hopes to persuade Glasgow Rangers to hire the striker out
for next season. The 31 year-old has suffered a string of injuries since
arriving in Scotland in 1999 and has only managed 37 matches in 3 seasons.
Speaking to Scottish daily newspaper the "Daily Mail he said that he
has regular contact with Jan Wouters who keeps him up to date with Mols'
situation at Rangers. Last year Adelaar wanted to bring him home to
Utrecht but the club's technical manager Han Berger was less than
enthousiastic and the move fell through.

| Harry
Jansen new coach Bhutan |
16 July 2002
|
|
Harry Jansen has been named as the new coach of
Himalayan kingdom Bhutan's national team. The former De Graafschap player
starts work on September 1st, according to Radio Gelderland, and Jansen,
who was a KNVB instructor, will be teaching 40 coaches in the Buddhist
country the finer aspects of the coaching art. Bhutan recently played an
official international against Montserrat, on the same day as the World
Cup Final, which Bhutan won convincingly 4-0 as the two teams (no.s 202
and 203) battled for the last place in FIFA's ranking. For those of you
who might be interested there is even an interesting feature-film directed
by a reincarnated Bhütanese Lama called "The Cup" which
reveals, amongst other things, the love of football amongst the youth of
the high-altitude country.

the Gulf club. Latuheru originally wanted to play for a club closer to his
home in Capelle aan den IJssel but couldn't resist the offer he's been made.

promotion in 3 seasons from the Serie C to the serie A. The former
Feyenoorder had only just started a two and a half year contract at Serie
C side Ternana but will be flying out to Italy today for a medical. 'This

|
| According
to AS Roma's president Franco Sensi, Dutch international Edgar Davids is
poised to move from Juventus to join his club. The midfielder had already
agreed terms some weeks ago, much to the annoyance of Juventus' manager
Luciano Moggi, in a deal which should see Francisco Lima move in the

Korea beat Spain! |
21 Jun 2002
|
| Guus
Hiddink has acquired the status of a demi-god in South Korea after the
national team beat Spain to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup today.
The stadium where the match took place is to be renamed the Guus Hiddink
stadium in honour of the Dutch coach who has transformed the South Korean
team into giant-killers! Italy have gone home and now Spain have been sent
packing after a penalty shoot-out where the Spaniards' best player
Joaquín was the only one to miss a penalty! Hiddink is speechless after
the latest victory but still has a few good things to say about the
unbelievable mental resilience of his team who have refused to be
dominated by supposedly far superior teams. The legend lives on!!

| Kiki
Musampa to join Deportivo? |
20 Jun 2002
|
| Former Ajax
star Kiki Musampa is said to be interested in swapping his current club
Malaga for Deportivo la Coruna. Deportivo's president Augusto Lendoiro is
very keen on signing him and has put up €2.5 million Euros plus two
players (said to be Flores and Emerson) against Malaga's asking price of
€3 million Euros. Musampa's deal runs out next year and Malaga would
prefer to sell him before he becomes transfer-free. He was the club's
first big signing in 1999, after he'd spent some time with Ajax and then
Bordeaux, but failed to live up to expectations. In fact he got himself
into a lot of trouble with his 'wild' lifestyle and was even accused
of attacking a woman who scratched his car after Malaga's 3-2 defeat by
Numancia in the 2000/2001 season. Things improved last term with him
putting away 9 goals in 32 matches.

| Guus
Hiddink's South Korea beat Italy! |
18 Jun 2002
|
| Dutch
coach Guus Hiddink's South Korea have beaten the Italians 2-1 with a
golden goal in extra time, ironically scored by Jung-Hwan Ahn who plays
for lowly Italian Peruggia. Italy seemed to have the match under control
with their tactically/technically superior but rather cynical style and
went ahead when Vieri headed in ther in the 18th minute. It looked
as if the Koreans didn't have enough heart to win today until they got a
late equalizer by Ki Hyeon Seol in the 88th to put the match into
extra-time. In a perhaps harsh decision Francesco Totti was sent off for
receiving his 2nd yellow card in the 103rd minute reducing Italy to ten
men. Ahn's Golden Goal came in the 117th minute to give the
tournament's 'dream team' a place in the quarter-final against Spain on Saturday.

18 Jun 2002
|
| Arie
Haan has denied yesterday's reports that he'd agreed to become Egyptian

Haan new Al Ahli coach |
17 Jun 2002
|
| Arie
Haan has accepted the offer to take over as the new trainer at Egyptian
club Al Ahli, the current Champion of Africa. The 53 year-old
still has to fill in the details of the deal and, as yet, no statement has
been made concerning the length of the contract. Up till August 2001
former Feyenoord coach was technical director, and later trainer, at
Austria Wien. Prior to that he'd looked after PAOK Saloniki, VfB
Stuttgart, FC Nürnberg, Standard Luik, Anderlecht, Paniliakos and, if
only very briefly, Omonia Nicosia on Cyprus. He only lasted two weeks
there before moving to Austria. Al Ahli won the African Champions League
for the first time in 14 years in December with victory against South
African side Mamelodi Sundowns. Haan
succeeds Portugese coach Manuel Jose who was sacked after the team lost
the championship title to rivals Ismailia.

| Frank
de Boer has finally put pen to paper and signed an extension on his
contract with Barcelona for another year. There had been a lot of
speculation that he might leave Camp Nou if he didn't get a new deal for
at least 2 years but the Dutch international is claiming that it was
always his intention to stay with Barça. De Boer is quoted as saying,
"After taking so long to reach agreement it's a bit of a relief and,
despite reports to the contrary, we're more than happy here." It'll
be his 5th season with the club and he's looking forward to making up for
a poor 2001/2002 season with a renewed effort to claim some prizes under
former Oranje boss Louis van Gaal.

| Arie
Haan to coach Egyptian club? |
10 Jun 2002
|
| Former
Anderlecht and Feyenoord coach Arie Haan is reportedly close to signing a
deal with top Egyptian side Al-Ahly. The Cairo club sacked Portugese
trainer Manuel da Silva last week after the team lost the championship to
arch rivals Al-Ismaili, despite the fact that he'd also helped them to win
both the African Champions League and the Super Cup. In Egyptian newspaper
"Al-Gomhouria" Hassan Hamdi, one of the club's managers, said
"We need to work our way back to the unassailable position we had in
this country and Arie Haan is definitely a man who could lead us back to
the absolute top of Egyptian football.' Arie Haan's last job was at Austria
Wien in, surprise, surprise, Austria where he was sacked last season.

| Menno
Willems leaves Grimsby |
07 Jun 2002
|
| Menno
Willems has left Grimsby Town after 18 disappointing months, his public
criticism of the club's lack of ambition have led to the club's decision
to terminate his deal. The former Vitesse player joined "The Marines"
in November 2000 when, he says, Grimsby were overflowing with ambition.
"They were planning to build a new stadium and buy some new players
but it's all come to nothing. The new board of directors are members of
the old guard, conservative and with little feeling for the sport. Besides
which they don't want to take any financial risks due to the club's
financial situation". Willems is happy in England and had expected
more of his adventure with Grimsby but hopes to find another club soon.

Zeeuw signs for Portsmouth |
07 Jun 2002
|
| Arjan
de Zeeuw will be turning out for English side Portsmouth next season after
signing a contract for 3 years. The Dutch defender played for Second
Division side Wigan Athletic during the last 3 years but now makes a
transfer-free move to Fratton Park. Manager Harry Redknapp is more than
pleased with his new acquisition, "Arjan is a big lad, an excellent
defender and will be good in organising our defence. He's had a taste of
playing at the top in England and with our team has a chance to repeat the
experience". De Zeeuw, who began his career with Telstar, had a taste
of the FA Premiership with Barnsley.

| Hiddink
hero in Korea after WC win |
05 Jun 2002
|
| The
South Korean team under the leadership of former Oranje coach Guus Hiddink
has won its first ever World Cup match with an impressive 2-0 against
Poland. Hiddink is over the moon with the result, dead tired but a happy,
happy man and a hero for life in South Korea itself! "Weeks ago I
said that the team would give their all for their country and today they
played at a level equal to a top European club. I'm proud of them! The
Dutch coach is looking forward to their next match which is against the
United States. "Of course it's been an historic victory but we don't
really have time to celebrate and must get on with the preparations
for the match. His prediction of the outcome? "We've got 5 days to
get ready but we'll beat them of course!"

Seedorf swaps Inter for AC Milan |
31 May 2002
|
|
Clarence Seedorf is moving across
town from Inter Milan to AC Milan as part of a swap between the two Serie
A clubs. Italian international Francesco Coco, who was on loan to
Barcelona, will be going in the opposite direction. Coco was unwilling to
return to AC Milan but is happy with his move to their rivals. The former
Ajax player has been with Internazionale since the end of 1999 but has
never been sure of retaining his place in the starting lineup. Earlier
this year he was targeted by Spanish side RCD Espanyol but the interest
did not result in a bid for the Oranje international.

| Van
Gaal persuades De Boer to stay |
25 May 2002
|
| Frank
de Boer is staying with Barcelona despite the fact he's only been offered
an extension for another year. The 32 year-old defender has been with the
Catalan club since January 1999 and was originally only willing to stay if
he got an extension for at least two years. However, a chat with Louis van
Gaal has convinced the Dutch international enough to risk another season
at Camp Nou with the prospect of another one-year extension if he does
well this coming season.

| Kluivert
out for 2 weeks with knee injury |
24 May 2002
|
| Patrick
Kluivert is out of action for the next two weeks due to a persistent knee
problem. The Oranje striker will miss Barcelona's coming friendly against
Thailand (who recently lost to PSV) but will, nonetheless, travel with the
team to Bangkok. Barça-doctor Ricard Pruna has revealed that Kluivert has
been troubled by the painful injury for some time but had been adamant in
his desire to play out the crucial last few matches of the season.
|
| Van
Gaal gives Kluivert guarantee |
22 May 2002
|
| After
speculation that Louis van Gaal was planning to sell Patrick Kluivert and
Brazilian forward Rivaldo in order to raise money to buy new players the
former Oranje boss has told the Dutch striker that he's guaranteed a place
in the Barcelona team. Rivaldo will also be staying and will play on the
left wing where Van Gaal feels he'll be most effective while
Kluivert will be fielded as centre-forward with Saviola backing him up.
Van Gaal still expects to add a couple of new players with character and
'attitude' such as Luis Enrique and Carles Puyol. It's still rumoured that
Mark van Bommel remains top of his list of potential additions to the
squad.

Gaal & Jonker
installed as Camp Nou |
17 May 2002
|
| Andries
Jonker has been confirmed as Louis van Gaal's assistant at Barcelona
during the former Oranje coach's official presentation today. The former
Volendam trainer is currently engaged in working on the Dutch FA's (KNVB)
so-called 'Masterplan'. It puts an end to the stories that have been
circulating indicating that former Ajax coach Co Adriaanse was joining Van
Gaal at Camp Nou. Van Gaal hmself has called for the fans and press to get
behnid him in his attempt to get the team back on track. Van Gaal is
keeping quite about any potential new players he wants for the squad
saying, "I'm going to talk to
Carlos Rexach about the last two years at the
club before signing any new players". The
former Ajax and Oranje coach was in charge at Camp Nou between 1997 and
2000. Under his leadership Barça won two Championship titles and one Copa
del Rey (Spanish Cup) before he resigned out of solidarity with chairman
José Luis Nunez.

| Marc
Overmars needs knee operation |
16 May 2002
|
| Marc
Overmars wil be undergoing an operation to correct a problem with his
right knee. The Barcelona left-winger has been back in Holland for a
medical examination which has indicated that the operation is essential.
The 29 year-old Oranje international has had a mediocre season, has only
played in 20 La Liga matches, and only played out the full 90 minutes in 6
of those! It's expected he'll be fit in time for the start of next season.
|
| Jonker
to be Van Gaal's assistant? |
16 May 2002
|
| Contrary
to earlier reports that former Ajax coach Co Adriaanse was heading for
Barcelona to be Louis van Gaal's assistant it now looks as if
Andries Jonker could be the candidate to become the former Oranje coach's
assistant. The former Volendam trainer has been working on the KNVB's
(Dutch FA) so-called "Masterplan", which he developed together
with Van Gaal. Van Gaal himself has already stated that he knows nothing
about the Adriaanse story but, in any case, we will know for sure tomorrow
when the new Camp Nou team is presented. |

Feyenoord.

has calf operation |
14 May 2002
|
| Chelsea
striker Jerrell Hasselbaink has had an operation to deal with a nagging
calf injury that been bothering the Dutch international for several weeks
and meant he missed the closing match of the season against Aston Villa
last Saturday. He'll be out of action for 4 weeks but should be fit in
time to kickoff the start of the preparations for the new Premiership
season in July.

| Stefan
Postma signs for Aston Villa |
14 May 2002
|
| De
Graafschap's Stefan Postma has signed a 4-year contract with English
Premiership side Aston Villa. The 25 year-old keeper has been targeted by
the West Midlands side for some time. It's not known exactly how much
money Villa have paid to buy off the goalie's contract, which runs till
the summer of 2004. Postma began his career with amateurs Elinkwijk,
making his Ere Divisie debut in 1995 for Utrecht. The former Dutch Under
21 keeper arrived at De Graafschap in 2000, after only playing 33 matches
in 5 years with the Domstad side, and will compete with Peter Enckelman
for the vacant No.1 shirt left by the departed Peter Schmeichel at Villa
Park.

| Van
Gaal wants Seedorf |
14 May 2002
|
| Van
Gaal has asked the Barcelona board to let him bring Clarence Seedorf to
Camp Nou. The Inter Milan and Oranje midfielder was teamed up with Van
Gaal at Ajax and has had an impressive 2nd half of this season in Milan,
generating interest from several European clubs.
|
| Van
Gaal back in Barça/Adriaanse assistant |
13 May 2002
|
| Barcelona
have announced that Louis van Gaal is to return to the Camp Nou club,
hardly a surprise after the stories which have been circulating recently
linking him with a return. Something that will raise an eyebrow or
two is the news that former Ajax coach Co Adriaanse is to be his
assistant! There's been considerable resistance to Van Gaal's return from
certain members of the board, as well as the fans, but chairman Joan
Gaspart has persuaded the doubtful that the club's best chance of a
revival is to take back the former Oranje coach. Barça have failed to win
any trophies under their current coach Carles Rexach and were knocked out
of the Champions League by archrivals Real Madrid, only just managing to
earn themselves a C-L ticket for next season! Van Gaal had considerably
more success as trainer between 1997 and 2000, when the club won the La
Liga title twice and the Spanish Cup once. In 2000 he resigned out of
solidarity with chairman José Luis Nunez, the man who'd brought him to
Camp Nou in 1997. After EURO 2000, when Frank Rijkaard resigned, he became
Holland's national coach but failed to repeat with Oranje his successes at
club level with Ajax and Barça. The Dutch failed to qualify for this
year's World Cup which led to his resignation. |
| Boateng
wants to leave Villa! |
13 May 2002
|
| George
Boateng has announced that he wants to leave Aston Villa after 3 years
with the English Premiership side. The 26 year-old midfielder has been
explaining that, although he's given everything he's got during every
single match he's played for the West Midlands side, he's starting to lose
the necessary motivation to play for them and has urgently requested to be
put on the transfer list! Boateng has been with the club since 1999,
playing 103 matches for "The Villains".
