| VVV
trial for Belgian player |
05 July 2002
|
| VVV have
offered the Belgian forward Christophe Geebelen a trial till July 20th in
which he can try to earn himself a contract with Wim Dusseldorp's team.
The 24 year-old comes from KV Mechelen but last season was on loan
to Belgian Second Divison side Verbroedering Geel. He joined Mechelen from
rivals Maasland Mechelen in 2000 and has the chance to play in one, or all
four, friendlies that
VVV have planned for the coming two weeks.

VVV
beat Den Haag 4-1
VVV got off to a slow start and found themselves trailing 0-1 in the
31st minute after Den Haag's top scorer Emiel van Eijkeren netted his
16th goal of the season. That woke the home team up and they drew
level 3 minutes later via Bernhard Hofstede. Remco put the home side ahead
1 minute before the break. In the 2nd half Den Haag were not able to
put on as much of a show as in the 1st and VVV were basically able to do as
they pleased. Bernhard Hofstede added another 2 goals to his score in the
49th and 60th to take his season's total to 19 goals for Den Haag this season, making
him the no.3 top scorer in the Eerste Divisie for the season 2001-2002.

Haarlem draw with VVV
0-0.
Sometimes a 0-0 draw can be just as exciting as a 3-3, unfortunately
for the spectators, this wasn't one of those matches. To say that Haarlem was the better of
the 2 sides would be giving them too much credit in what was basically an
awful game.

VVV
beat Cambuur
2-1.
VVV's top scorer Brian Hofsteded the score for the home side in
the 12th minute with his 17th goal of the season. Remco Evers doubled the
score 6 minutes later with a nice 20 meter shot. Although Cambuur's top
scorer Jan de Bruin pulled one back 10 minutes into the 2nd half, VVV
remained the better of the 2 sides and had little difficulty in playing
out the remainder of the match. |

|
| VVV
have decided not to extend the contracts of Ruud Kool, Oswald Snip, Remco
Evers, Dave Joosten and Maarten van Elst. Although it was already known
that, as part of the Eerste Divisie side's preparations for next season,
Maurice Graef, John Roox and Kris Porte were leaving at the end of the
season, no decision's yet been made as to Boy Seijkens future with the
club. The talented midfielder has been suspended for the rest of this
season for disciplinary reasons. In the meantime the Venlo club have
signed their first player for next season, 24 year-old Belgian keeper Koen
Wins from Excelsior Veldwezel, who's signed a deal for one season (VVV
have an option for another two).

VVV
draw with Go
Ahead Eagles
1 - 1.
VVV were unlucky last night after drawing with Go Ahead Eagles when in
fact they could have won. The home side should have been awarded 2 penalties in the
1st 10 minutes of the game but referee Karremans was not in the blowing mood
and kept his whistle safely tucked away. In the 10th
minute of the game VVV took the lead after Sjors Verdellen's magnificent 30
metre lob flew into the back of the net. Dutch television station SBS6 were
ecstatic about the goal and showed several replays later in the evening on their
Friday night sport's program. In the 90th minute, Go Ahead Eagles
forward Marcel Muhlac scored his 1st goal of the season, putting the final
1-1 on the board.
