Heracles
beat Veendam 4-1
The visitors put on a weak performance last night by allowing Heracles
too much freedom in the penalty area. Marnix Smitd the score in the
3rd minute of the game with a beautiful free-kick that sailed over the
wall of defenders into the far left-hand corner of the net. After Rik
Platvoet and Roy Stroeve had narrowly missed for Heracles, Berry Hoogeveen
made it 2-0 for the home side, profiting from a defensive blunder. A
couple of minutes later Roy Stroeve had a goal disallowed for eligibly
fouling the Veendam goalkeeper Peter van der Vlag. Just before the break
Stroeve was found the back of the net again and this time his goal was
actually allowed by the referee. In the 61st minute Rik
Platvoet made it 4-0 for Heracles and, 2 minutes later, Berry Hoogeveen
'scored' but for some obscure reason his goal was also disallowed. In the
74th minute Veendam finally managed to pull one back after Iwan Tzvetkov
netted from close range, his 22nd goal of the season making him the Eerste
Divisie top scorer this season.

Veendam lose to MVV
2-3.
MVV nearly went into the lead in the 10th minute but Davey Heyman's
free-kick was miraculously saved by Veendam's goalie, Peter van der Vlag.

Taiwo. In the 30th minute John Mutsaersd the score after heading in
a 40 meter cross. 4 minutes later Max Houttuin levelled the score with a beautiful
25 meter shot. In the 77th minute of the game Uriel Trus tfull made it 1-2,
rounding off a rush down the right flank with a mis-kicked cross that
somehow landed in the back of the net. 3 minutes later Wasiu Taiwo
slammed in his 14th goal of the season from close range. 5 minutes before
the final whistle Eerste Divisie top scorer Ivan Tzvetkov made the score
look more respectable for the home side, netting from close range after a scrimmage

| Ivan
Tzvetkov is furious with Heerenveen as a result of the way in which the
Frieslanders are treating him! The Bulgarian forward has been with the
club since 1997 but they have no more use for him and he's
actually been on loan to Eerste Divisie side Veendam since last season.
His contract runs out this term but Heerenveen have failed to terminate
the deal before April 1st which means that if a club comes calling for the
22 year-old they will have have to pay a transfer-fee! Both Veendam and Go

It was a close match as the two teams fought for 5th place in the
table. Goals by Hofstede(10th), Bodde(22nd), Van Eijkeren (54th)
and Van Utrecht (89th) give Den Haag another valuable win in the hunt for
the 3rd period title. Two goals by Cvetkov (13th and 90th) and another by
Kolder (45th) were not enough to squeeze out a point for the home side.

Veendam
lost to Heerenveen
0 - 2. It
took Heerenveen until the last 10 minutes of the match to avoid having to
play extra-time. Tony Alberda's almost-goal for Veendam, in the first
quarter of an hour, was the only thing for the sold-out stadiumn to get
excited about until Anthony Lurling scored from a Gérard de Nooijer pass,
the ball dissappearing between the legs of goalie Peter van der Vlag.
Substitute Lionel Lord, making his debut (he normally plays for the
reserves) sealed Veendam's fate and put the Frieslanders through to the
next round of the Cup.
