a surprising move FIFA have handed out a one-year suspension to Frank de
Boer, confirming UEFA's earlier ban (for failing a doping
test) and he
will now miss playing for Oranje in their crucial World Cup qualifiers
against Ireland, in Dublin on September 1st, and against Estonia on
September 5th. The decision to ban the Dutch captain, only two weeks
before his appeal against UEFA's ban is to be heard on July 26th, was a
totally unexpected blow for the De Boer camp as it is usual for FIFA to
wait until an appeal against a UEFA ban has been heard! Are there any
politics going on here? |
